Luai shits tons on Burton but I still think we should address the forwards first and its a shame we have to start again to look for spine players when we thought we had our 5/8
When we first signed Burton I said we signed the better of the 5/8's at Penrith. I was wrong. Luai is way better.

I thought the same. I was certain of it. Although it remains to be seen how good luai is outside of the Penrith team. I personally think he could too flounder at a club like ours unless we can land a world class middle or 2 to assist his game

We need to land a world class coach.

Yep, if he wasn't a shit **** we wouldn't have to chase a slightly less shit ****.

You blokes are too militant on this for how common sense you are.

If our pack isn't getting over the advantage line and getting a roll on, how do you expect him to flourish?

Before you say it, yes he has a lot that he can improve on himself but the club have to give him the time and infrastructure - like an elite halves coach for starters.

Writing him off now is crazy

Your are correct 100% but its the lack of effort, care factor and ball playing that is a huge worry.

I just can't see it happen ATM. I can't argue with the points you raised but I can't see any hunger in him at all. Its like he knows himself he is way out of his depth and doesn't try to own the 6 jersey.

He actually regressed this year. If this year's form continues, I wouldn't move him to the centres, I'd move him to reserves.

He reminds me of some of the boys I've coached over the years, only playing because their parents force them and/or want to live through them.

We will find out and find out soon. This is a massive first half of the season for Burton IMO. He needs to show a lot more!

More than 1.1, who exactly are the Tigers bidding against? Doesn’t seem to be much interest from other clubs.
The agents job is easy in this case, and even easier when there are competing bids. but in the case there isn’t, all the agent needs to say is “tigers are a basket case, he’s coming from the panthers, 3x champion he’s giving up a lot. He may never see another ring.. gotta pay up for that alone”

He needs to show improvement, but placing a constraint like half a season is pretty arbitrary and allows no qualifiers. People need to be prepared that if this current pack isn't improved with at least 2 decent specialist props and we are getting rolled in the middle, then our backs won't do shit other then low percentage, hail Mary's.

Yeah I agree, some of the defensive efforts were embarrassing.

It's not hard to see how exceptional he'd be behind a dominant pack, constantly on the front foot, attacking space and I think the ballplaying becomes a lot easier for him in that scenario.

Like Luai, nothing special but next to Cleary and behind that monster pack, has 3 rings.

Luai will be exposed as the fraud he is at his next club. Hopefully it's not our club.

Yeah, like I said to CQDog - some of his defensive efforts were embarrassing this year.

As far as the regression goes, I believe some of it is explained by him trying to tighten his game eg. We saw less of his torpedo bombs and more weighted kicks. He obviously didn't forget how to do them, so why? Most likely he's using a more controlled kick in an effort to land the ball closer to the try line. I think if you view this year through that lense, it explains a bit - giving early ball to Kikau to try getting him involved.

All that said, he definitely needs to show improvement in areas he can control.

I'm just amazed and disgusted at the way he refused to run it all year. I don't rate his long or short kicking game, he can't control the game, can't takle to save his life, he has a decent run but never fkn runs.

But what does Munster do behind a dysfunctional pack? He's great at bouncing out of and through tackles, but he'd still be relying on miracle plays.

Agree, but he is a competitor and tries to create. But at least he has Hughes next to him to steady the ship. But when he gets his miracles they are really miracles.

Bring a forward all my life I always say your pack is more important than the spine.

Real question is how did we go from having excess bulldozing forwards to sweet FA? It's sad...

It really is man, and really illustrates the importance of an elite dominant prop being right up there with a 7.

That's without even getting into the leadership vacuum we have

Cant blame lack of forwards for a lot of burtos clangers tho. In prime attacking position he would regularly drill the ball dead to kill momentum or just flat take a poor option. Defensively he was lazy and came up with glareing misses and poor reads

If our half depth wasnt so bad at the time with only guys like Rajab and oluapu back up then he shouldve probably seen a stint in nsw cup

Am I delusional in thinking we will be a force again in about 2-3 years?
