Liverpool 'agree' Benayoun switch

Liverpool have agreed a fee with West Ham for Yossi Benayoun, according to the Israeli international's agent.

BBC Sport understands a £4m transfer will be finalised for the 25-year-old West Ham midfielder on Wednesday.

Agent Ronen Katzav said: "Everybody would be happy to play for Liverpool. West Ham will always be in his heart but he is looking to move up a level."

Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez said: "It's clear he'd like to come and he's a player I like."

Benayoun, Israel's national captain, moved to Upton Park from Racing Santander in a £2.5m deal in 2005.

He has played 72 games for the Hammers and scored eight goals.

The clubs have already done business this summer with striker Craig Bellamy moving to the capital from Merseyside in a £7.5m deal.

he'll more than likely be used as a 'super-sub' kind of player. come on when it's deadlocked or we are behind in the hope to create something..

will be interested to see the line ups if we do sign babel and quaresma (i suck at the spelling of his name).. starting to look very nice :grinning:

If true I think Pennant may be the man to go. However Harry will be on the outer if they snag Babel as one of the rumors suggests!

since when has rafa played the best side possible i mean zenden played ahead of kewell in the cl final, kewell is easily better than zenden n he was ahead of harry, rafa changes the squad too often its not funny, he'll get a decent go

I dont care who he is or where he is from... Yossi can play... but this guy will be wasted on the bench and/or in reserve. He should have stayed at west ham at the very least.

And i thought rafa can do much better than that...

I dont really care if we sign him or not....having a little depth is what every team needs..especially with the amount of competitions we play in......i just hope it doesnt stop us from buying players like quaresma!

I'm thinking that West Ham United have no clue what they've just Done... They just released a Great Midfielder... how are they trying to aim for a Good Seasonm this Time when they are selling their Best???

our midfield is practically gone.
benyaoun and reo coker were standouts last year.

we bought some frenchman and parker to conpensate. but with all due respect, benayoun and reo coker are much better.

im guessing noble and parker will start in the centre of mid
unless we buy someone else
