I was talking to a bloke at the footy last night who had some insight into the Roosters salary cap / recruitment- retention strategy.

He mentioned they run a program called Life After Footy. This is a initiative by Politis where he legally sets his players up for there future.

He will organise good business deals on there behalf and if necessary lend them funds to get them started with in an official loan structure.

He then mentors them in business / investment and provides them with a wealth of information and contacts.

This in turn creates loyalty to politis and the Roosters in general. And significantly assists in recruitment and retention in a completely legal way.

This bloke is hoping to start a similar initiative at the Titans. He also pointed out that though it's a prude business plan it means the team can sign players for significantly less than their market worth because they know they will make it up else whereas over time make even more. And that this strategy means other team salary cap recruitment and retention are inferior, which is proving a problem for the game over all.

I said some time ago about this, in principle, "lurk" of theirs.

They provide pathways for future employment through their buinesses and clubs like Berkeley Sports Club etc.

Its a good idea and we need to get invested in this kind of incentive as well (if legal) for life after footy.

Obviously Laundy, and all his suppliers/contacts, would be a huge source of opportunity for our players.

if your fortunate enough to have a long NRL career and make good decisions, then It’s a great incentive.

Pretty sure most clubs offer something similar. They may not have the same contacts as Politis; but most have post NRL plans available for their kids.

Smart idea helps the players transition post playing hence why they sign players cheap cause they reap it in other ways even loaning the players funds cheaper then bank loans helps
The problem is they are a smart run club and we’re the spastics of the comp

very smart by the roosters.

Alot of Sydney swans players end up really well educated after footy. Uni degrees etc, running their own businesses etc.im not sure of the setup they have exactly though, whereas alot of the NRL players seem content to piss all their money up against a wall
