I think it's better to be grateful for the water we have. Sure you get flooding, but it's better than being bleed dust dry and having no life-giving H2O.All fun and games until you're the poor bastard being evacuated.
(its been raining in Brisbane now for about a week - but not enough to get us away from possible water restrictions during this coming dry season).
I'm not sure why they need to open the gates. Just let the water gradually make its way down to minimise the impact. Is that an option?NSW Disaster Minister blasts Water Minister for mismanaging earlier water releases.
News reporting they will have to release 70% of Warragamba Dam now to cope with the expected huge rain event expected to fill it again.
That 70% is going down stream and will cause dreadful losses.
Best of luck to all those badly impacted
Overall there has been some bad decisions and policies on water management across the country in the past, but hopefully the authorities are always learning from experience on this.NSW Disaster Minister blasts Water Minister for mismanaging earlier water releases.

I think thats what the Minister is complaining about. The fact that a lot has to be let go at once so the new rain event water can come in...like they did in Brissy.Overall there has been some bad decisions and policies on water management across the country in the past, but hopefully the authorities are always learning from experience on this.
You don't want another flood like Brisbane had in 2011.
Not sure Wahesh. Have you seen vids of it roaring out of the overspill already...looks bad for that area if there's more rain coming.I'm not sure why they need to open the gates. Just let the water gradually make its way down to minimise the impact. Is that an option?
So where will the 70% end up?NSW Disaster Minister blasts Water Minister for mismanaging earlier water releases.

Police saying all through the Hawkesbury etc contributory rivers, streams and creeks. So where will the 70% end up?
Don't we have anything in place to shift the 70% to drought affected areas? Any type of infrastructure?Police saying all through the Hawkesbury etc contributory rivers, streams and creeks.
Not from the area so not sure but Penrith in trouble its said on TV?
On the news it said it was night before their wedding...those poor buggers and they've lost everything. I assumed house too but later on they interviewed their "landlords" so not sure on the house ownership. Its not all bad news...
House Floating Down Sydney Street Sells For $3 Million
An un-renovated terrace in Marrickville (at the time of writing) has sold for $800,000 over its reserve.
Billed as having good bones with plenty of scope for improvement (STCA), the three-bedroom home was said to be in need of a new kitchen and bathroom, as well as new foundations and land.
“You won’t find a 3-bedroom terrace in Sydney for less than this,” real estate agent Hugo Tarnby told bidders, as they swam to keep up with the property.
The home, which started in the sought-after suburb of Enmore, before floating to Marrickville and then Tempe, was at times close to shops, public transport and other amenities.
“It’s close to everything, eventually,” Tarnby said. “It has 360 degree absolute waterfront views. Don’t let this one pass you by. And I mean that very literally”.
Successful bidders Jo Granton and Jeremy Peach said they were ecstatic to finally get onto the property ladder. “It’s not perfect, but it’s got great potential. Of course we would’ve loved a house that was connected to the ground, but this is Sydney! You can’t have everything.”
You think any of our 3 year cycle politicians would make that happen?Don't we have anything place to shift the 70% to drought affected areas? Any type of infrastructure?
Wow.... interesting, these useless pricks earn hundreds of thousands of dollars to sit around and fuck this country up, with all the resources we have available to them, how hard is to organise an infrastructure to combat these situations for the good of the country. You think any of our 3 year cycle politicians would make that happen?
It's happened, happening, all over the country.Wow.... interesting, these useless pricks earn hundreds of thousands of dollars to sit around and fuck this country up, with all the resources we have available to them, how hard is to organise an infrastructure to combat these situations for the good of the country.
Only State with decent roads is WA.The other day the roads minister said all the profits they generate from fines goes into fixing our roads, hahahaha, fucking liar, our roads would have to be some of the worst in first world countries!
