CHAMPION fast bowler Brett Lee has thrown a major scare into Australia's World Cup campaign after breaking down at training in Wellington today.
Lee slipped on his ankle during training drills and was taken from the field for treatment from the Australian medical staff.
He twisted his ankle when sliding for a ball.
Lee is unlikely to play in any of the three matches on the New Zealand tour.
The injury could open the door for either South Australina Shaun Tait or NSW fast bowler Stuart Clark to play in the Chappell- Hadlee series.
