Former NRL player Kenny Edwards sent straight to tribunal after alleged John Hopoate-style incident

Former NRL player Kenny Edwards has been slapped with a 'Grade F' charge after a contrary conduct incident in the Super League.

Edwards currently plays for Huddersfield Giants in the Super League.

He moved to the club at the start of the 2020 season and has played 27 matches since joining the English franchise.

However, he has found himself in serious hot water after an incident against Catalans Dragons on Thursday.

Edwards has been hit with a 'Grade F Other Contrary Behaviour' charge following a tackle with another former NRL player, Sam Kasiano.

It is alleged that Edwards attempted to place a finger in the back end of Sam Kasiano.

The allegation brings back memories of John Hopoate who was sent to the judiciary for three separate incidents against the North Queensland Cowboys in 2001.

The then Wests Tigers player was hit with a 12-week suspension after the commissioner described it as "disgusting, violent, offensive behaviour".

Edwards is likely to face a similar length of ban if he is found guilty at the tribunal.

It is believed a sanction of up to eight weeks could be handed down to Edwards.

31-year-old Edwards is in the second of a three-year deal with Huddersfield believed to be in the value of $1 million.

The tribunal will sit later this week to decide Edwards' fate.

Half closed does that make a difference?
This is a grey area actually. A lot of the court cases against me tried to argue that the half closed could've been a sign of opposition to the penetration, but we successfully argued that is was a sign of pleasure.

Still, best to make sure the eyes stay open just to be safe
