Broncos star Justin Hodges could make a shock return for Brisbane in Friday night's blockbuster clash against the Storm at Lang Park.

The representative centre is recovering from shoulder surgery and was not expected to play until round four.

But coach Ivan Henjak says Hodges would love to take on the Storm.

"He's keen to play, as he would be. It's a big game and he's getting close," he said.

Henjak has also given prop Nick Kenny until match day to prove his fitness.

Kenny, who has stepped up into a starting role this season, suffered a hamstring strain in the first half against the Cowboys last week.

Henjak said on Thursday he was prepared to give Kenny another day before deciding if he should be replaced by either Ashton Sims or youngster Josh McGuire in the second round match.

Melbourne arrived in Brisbane on Wednesday with injury concerns over match-winning five eighth Greg Inglis, however indications are he will line-up.

Inglis scored the last minute try which knocked the Broncos out of the grand final at Lang Park last September.

Good news to hear hes back.

But will be disappointing for one of the young boys.

Either way the Broncs will rape the Storm.

So early in the season and teams are willing to risk their star players by playing them when they are not physically ready.

This match counts for sh*t. Play players when they have recovered ffs.
