Don’t want him.. we actually need the $ on forwards. Pretty simple we miss out on afb and or may then our rebuild needs a few extra years if we have juniors coming through

who the fk are you jahesh? I said we need to spend the money on the forwards. Ayri fik read the post again
So if we could afford AFB, May (or Klemmer) and Luai you still wouldn't sign him? There's close to 0% chance Dearden or Mam would come here.

2022 world cup, probably every game except the GF vs Australia, it's a low sample size.
Yes, it’s a small sample size but nonetheless a valid example of Luai leading the team and getting them into positions on the field. Then compare to 2023 with basically the same Samoan team and no Luai. The only reason Luai isn’t playing halfback at Penrith is because Cleary is there.

Honestly we don’t need him unless we move burton
No actually the complete opposite cause Pascoe is not liked so he will pay overs to get Luai so he looks like he did something great

I really don't think we will sign him but if we could manage to fit him in cap wise with a couple of first class props I think he would be exceptional as a 7 with Burton 5/8. Two props first priority though.
Problem is there aren't two elite props available until atleast 2025

If we could get Luai from 2024 onwards, than its a no brainer, and by the time elite props come on the market, we will have players off contract so money wise would even itself out

No way Panthers release him for 2024 nor are we getting much in way of props for 2024.
You would think we will make a major play for AFB and another solid middle for 2025. We will find out soon enough.

That’s why for 24 to at least start getting on the front door we need a metre eater with aggression like Klemmer.( arregghh..oops a bit more vom in my throat..)

If Gould could pull that off cheaply enough and sell the idea to Klemmer that he needs to be a pack leader by example, it would help plenty.

What do we read into the Bulldogs’ initial meeting with Jarome Luai?

That they didn’t make an offer is standard practice for Canterbury general manager Phil Gould and coach Cameron Ciraldo when it comes to dealing with their former club, Penrith. They would not want to be seen as encouraging players to leave the Panthers, even though they have two of their former stars, Matt Burton and Stephen Crichton, on their books.

Gould and Ciraldo simply wanted to gauge Luai’s thoughts. The Bulldogs will only get serious about talking dollars once Luai tells them he is definitely leaving Penrith. Until then, they will respect the Panthers.

Indications are that Luai is on the move. That has been the case since he employed a new management company, Black Money Enterprises, to explore his options.

It would be a far bigger surprise if he ignored the likes of Wests Tigers, the Bulldogs and others to stay with Penrith.

There has also been a lot made of the fact the meeting was conducted away from the prying cameras of the general public and professional photographers who take delight in capturing Gould with rival players.

Don’t forget, there was never a photo when Gould was wooing Ciraldo. In fact, at that time, Gould went to great lengths to have the meetings at a western Sydney hotel, where he even had CCTV cameras turned off.

I’ve been told the meeting with Luai was held in a similar location with the same level of effort put in to keep prying eyes away. The Bulldogs believe the story was leaked by a rival club, which found out about the discussions through Luai’s management.

Don't know, but there is not many quality off contract props in 2024 for the 2025 season;
- Hamlin-Uele (Sharks)
- Terrell May (Roosters)

Even though we are a minimum of 2 quality props short, there is SFA available for next year and 2025
