this season I cant help but notice how much jahrome Hughes has improved as a 7 for storm.

It seems that coaching has actually developed his game.

Compare that to our halves, not a single one has improved one iota in 3 seasons.

We've wasted another 3 years of our players careers, our coaching has been fucking abysmal.

It's what Bellamy does..picks out a player with good physical attributes and solid skillset, works them like crazy, gives them a role and then helps them to make better decisions. Done it with so many players.

Good point Captain. Yeah Melbourne have always been renowned for turning avg players into stars. I think having a capt coach like Cam Smith out on the field really helps with confidence and development in game situations. Not having a reserve grade comp this year hasn't helped someone like a Brandon Wakeham who needs to play more footy but has shown to be not quite ready for first grade.

Actually our reserves are a good point you bring up.

When we won the Canterbury cup comp it was a simple game plan of our forwards being bigger then every other sides forwards.

We actually had no real great backline movements compared to newtown and dragons.

That should have been warning signs back then that we needed a coach other than georgeallis

Instead we rewarded mediocrity like pay and SG

Is that why Bellamy wants Lewis?

Our halves have been terrible all year - and las year - they may be a bit better with forward who make ground and not get dominated and some reasonably decent coaching.

Is that genuine or just a media beat up that he wanted Lewis.

Even if he did with Bellamy it can be about getting players who can do a simple role alongside who he already has. Examples of this would be Ben Roberts and Blake Green back in the day, he just needed them to fulfill a role alongside Cronk.

Foran has been awesome when he plays regardless of the coach. Hughes is a very good player. Lewis, Wakeham, Cogger are not as good. A good coach helps, but a good player will be good under any coach. The biggest thing a coach does is make them play as a team. This we have lacked

Be careful mate I made a thread about him ages ago about how much he's improved and got accused of fan boying because of "one good game" haha. But yes he's elite, anyone who says otherwise is a fool, at fullback or 7 he'd improve our side immensely

Cooper Cronk was a manufactured halfback thanks to Bellamy and co.

Good thing Barrett is pretty much a specialised halves coach, look at how he’s turned clearys potential into true play making confidence and correct decision making 99% of the time
Sorry mate
Cleary always had super high potential and I actually thought Penrith signing him on big dollars at the time was smart.
As usual Kenneler’s laughed at Gould and said Cleary was shit (even though he played origin etc) now he is pretty much elite with Munster, Smith etc
Reason our halves are rubbish is cause our administration is absolute rubbish. They are responsible for everything.
Something tells me a lot of supporters are in for a rude awakening when T Baz gets here. Calling it now- will be a failure.
If he doesn’t make the 8 fail straight up. No excuses.

Don't discredit what Smith out of dummy half does... Countless times last night he would signal what he wants the team to do. For example Papenhauzen's try out of first receiver, Smith basically told him to go for a run down the blind side and the rest was Papenhauzen. That club in general is just a well oiled machine from top to bottom.

Of course having an established key player in the spine helps massively, Smith being Smith even more so than normal. Unfortunately for us we never had a Smith or anything close...meanwhile Melbourne have had Munster, Hughes, Grant, and Smitt all play and train alongside him, learning to do what he does so when he finally goes they're ready take take over and nurture the next lot of kids coming through.

The worst part of all this is Melbourne's spine for the future is....

Papen
Munster
Hughes
Grant/Smith

Fark me we went trying to beat the BIG THREE to now having to beat the BIG FOUR!
But, but, Bellamy is over rated. He gets all the good players. And C. Smith is over rated and a grub and he has good players that make him look good. [emoji849][emoji849]
Sorry don’t wanna be a dick but sometimes people on here just have zero idea.

I reckon those saying extend pays contract are worse than the ones saying bellamy is overrated.

Bellamy does have blemishes on his record ie one club coach, nsw coach record

Not even close.... We really be struggling since Hasler dropped the next crop of forwards including Cook who is atleast some what close to anything of class.
