So Friday night I was waiting for the train after work ready to go home. This young chick from my office just happens to turn up there, and stops to chat with me. I just want everyone right now to stop whatever it is they're thinking because I can tell you that this isn't heading in that direction.

So anyway, typical Friday afternoon chat, I ask her what she's up to this weekend. She tells me that she has a friends birthday but doesn't really want to go. I said Yep... cold winter nights, it's Netflix weather. She agrees. I ask her what is her friend doing for her birthday. She says that they're going bowling. I said... Ok... I was actually expecting her to say something like they're going to a nightclub or a bar or out to dinner... but no... bowling!

I got to thinking that maybe this girls friend is underage and she's only going because it's an obligation, not choice.

Anyway I decided to change the subject and ask her what she's watching on Netflix at the moment. She tells me that season 3 of Stranger Things has begun - a show up until this point which I hadn't heard of. Now I thought to myself here ok well it's Netflix and there are hundreds of shows on it... maybe she found one that I hadn't found and vice versa.

She also told me about another show called Happy! That's ok... 2 shows I hadn't heard about - no big deal.

It turns out this IS a big deal. Those 2 shows are freaking killing it in the young adult target audience, and I hadn't heard of them. I decided to look up Strager Things in IMDb... I only freaking know Winona Ryder in the cast. FMD. I remember her as the little girl who liked bad guys in Edward Scissorhands... or the lying reporter who falls in love with Longfellow Deeds in... Mr Deeds. She must be close to 50 by now meaning she's be a mum to others in the cast... freaking no-name little kids. I'm telling her about dark murder shows like Bitter Daises and Guilt... and her she is talking to me about little kiddie shows.

So I decided to look up Happy! hoping it would be something more... mature.

I was wrong.

It's official - I'm old!

I'm quietly confident in saying this chick was no older than 23 lol.
Nothing wrong with that I say.
Just so long as you aren't driving up and down the road of a girls high school in a clubsport then you're not a creep!

Girls High School? I stay as far away from those joints as possible. The amount of high school gossip and politics I can handle is amount as high as the amount of times I can survive jumping off the harbour bridge!

I met a couple of former catholic school girls while working at the casino.

They would of been around our age and both said I'm hot and look like the mayor of the northern beaches.

Isn't it aimed at a young audience? Being in my mid 30s I think I'm past that point lol.

I stopped reading from here. lol Nah I'm kidding.

Stranger Things is awesome! Also just finished binging it over the weekend. Winona Ryder is really good in the series. She's always been a good actress, just a bit crazy off-screen haha.

I wasn't going to post for a little while but seeing your thread @Wahesh made me

I'm 31, don't know if that's considered old in this day and age but based on my choice of music and movies I feel like I'm 60

I watch stranger things and think it's a good show, a little overrated imo but all in all very watchable (plus winona ryder is always a pleasure to watch, still smoking and one of my favourite spank bank ladies)
Happy! I think is awesome, probably helps I'm a big Christopher meloni fan and like watching twisted shit so it makes sense it's right up my alley :grinning:

I get told that a lot actually more specifically I get told I'm an angry old man - I can't help it sometimes.
Being 2019 you can't say anything without some oversensitive fairy getting all hot and bothered, that's just the tip of the iceberg but I'll shut up for now

(and yeah, If I shave the arsehair on my face I look like I'm 20 and still get carded when I buy smokes and booze)
Guess I should take it as a compliment but it gets annoying :tired::tearsofjoy:

Well the thing is that Stranger Things has a bit of Fantasy in it - something I'm not a fan of, and Happy! is a show that appears to have animation in it. ANYWAY... I will give both shows a chance when I finish my current rotation :grinning:

Thanks brother!

There's no animation in happy. (apart from the unicorn)
It's a pretty dark show with some messed up characters from the guy who directed the crank movies starring your main man Jason statham
