Is CC building a system that's not reliant on one man?

The problem with Xerri at the moment is that he doesn't use Fox enough he runs the ball too much and being predictable.
So hopefully the coaching staff get onto it sooner rather then later.
He set up JAC vs Storm. Vs Knights he held the ball instead of passing because if he did pass, he was close enough to the sideline that JAC would've been bundled out of touch, this happened a number of times

That try he bombed vs storm, where he held onto the ball instead of passing to JAC for that linebreak, he quickly learned his lesson and is looking for JAC when the opportunity presents itself.

And his strong running with the ball, when he holds onto it, puts the defence in two minds when he runs the decoy. He's doing very very well imo

Not enough if you include Cup!

I just watch the 360 show talking about how Knights are out of the race because their system is centered around one man- Kalyn Ponga, same with the Eels and Mitch Moses. Newcastle Knights of the 2000s had the same issue when Andrew Johns was out.
Which got me thinking about our team and realized that if Burton does go down it won't really affect us too much. Sexton , Hutch or Mann move to 5/8th and we play on. The decision to recruit as many utilities will turn out to be a masterstroke when other teams are struggling with injuries to key players.
I don't think its too much of a surprise that this is the case as this is copybook Panthers, Storm and Roosters systems. Especially Panthers seeming Gould and CC had a lot to do with Panthers rebuilding. I mean they have Cleary but have shown they can win without him.

Like the Storm and Roosters then can lose a player and slot another in who can adjust to the systems. They also have a fair number of players who can rotate positions and fill in. Funny enough Salmon sometimes filled in at centre or 5/8 and done well.

But every player is dedicated to their job and playing their part within the systems and working together. Its worked for these teams for years. The Broncos are similar expect they have a large pool to draw from but they have players like Maddin and Sailor who just slot in.

We are on the right track and are now in the top 8 so hopefully we can stay there.

Burton is a weapon I love watching him play and when he hits his speed and watching him develop he is such a great player to watch

He has been concentrating on his game ever since we good rid of all the duds and it’s showing they all work together and it’s showing on the field how much impact and they work for eachother love it

Maybe it’s a whole new way of playing the game - forwards don’t need to make 100m each when 4 of the backs run for 150 plus and you have a guy that can kick the ball 60m on the end of the set.

They do need line speed, in your face defence.

Get to the kick, chase hard and the other side burns 1-2 tackles in their own 20. No repeat sets and they get very few tackles in our 30 zone.

Move the ball to our edges and we are potent - speed and power.

We finally have a FB in Tracey that has acceleration and passing skills so we can attack early in the set in the opponents half rather than 5 hit ups, bomb on the last and hope for the best.

This... If we perfect this we can break the mould of needing big bodies. Unless we verse a pack of Payne Haas superhumans.
