In 1997, the Bulldogs beat the Hunter Mariners 48-36 at Belmore Sports Ground. 36 was the highest amount of points scored by a that team did not win.

In 2005, we were again involved in a game that involved 36 points being scored by a losing team, however this time we were the losing team, losing 37-36 to (eventual Premiers) Wests Tigers on Easter Sunday.

On the weekend, the Dragons broke that record, scoring 40 points against the Eels and still lost.

The 36 points scored by a losing team has been equaled a few times since 2005.

But yes - nice to know it isn’t us who is “one of” the dubious record holders.

Now, onto spoonbowl.

We had a huge injury toll that year. I assume this wasn't our full strength team?
Was so long ago but yeah, Mason and Omeley were the big outs. I remember Anasta dragged us off the canvas in that game

Yep we never fielded a full-strength team that year due to injuries, and even Ben Harris departed halfway through the season.

Reni spoke about this recently, casting shade on the Tigers premiership.
Dogs, Panthers, Roosters were all decimated with injury
St George with the best roster in NRL history at the time did their usual 2000 era choking, somehow the tigers got through the net and got lucky.

Team doesnt look that bad on paper either lol
The game at the end of the year was much worse. We gave up with 5 rounds to go and were getting done badly every week. Tigers beat us 54 to 2 lol. Another example about how taking the 2 is a peak cuck move that stands the test of time.

Ironically, Mason and O'Meley were back for the second game when we got absolutely done. Take a look at some of the players though in both games for us... Ben Czislowski, Adam Brideson, Filinga Filiga, Daniel Irvine... it's no wonder why we lost.

Plus everyone thought the Eels were going to win it that year, yet the Minor Premiers got done 29- 0 by Cowboys in the Preliminary Final.

That team cooped so much media bullshit it's somewhat understandable they fell flat after winning the premiership and an injury riddled year. The depth was weak because there was relentless pressure from all fronts to rip that squad apart.

2006 was more of a let down than 2012 and 2014 imo. And that was a reflection of the ego's that ran the club (the players). By the same token, without those egos we don't have the fire in the belly for 2004's big fuck you to everybody

A big fuck you is the best way to describe it.
