Will Hopoate re-signs with the Bulldogs for the next three seasons

Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs fullback Will Hopoate has re-signed with the club for a further three seasons.

The deal will keep the talented back at the club until the end of the 2020 season.

The Bulldogs can also confirm that Hopoate will make himself available for Sunday matches as part of the contract.

Bulldogs Chief Executive Raelene Castle was delighted to be able to keep Hopoate at Belmore for the foreseeable future: "It is fantastic news for the club that we have been able to sign Will for a further three seasons. Will is a quality player and person who has embraced the Bulldogs family culture. His experience and leadership at the back will be of great value over the coming seasons. We are delighted to have him back on board."

Thankfully the never on Sunday clause is gone and as long as he is the right price I don't mind. Not exactly our 'rockstar fullback' but still solid.

There were rumours of other clubs looking at him but was he ever going to go anywhere else?

Glad thats over with. Hoping he keeps his form of late though.
He is solid and only young.
If we are signing players of his calibre, our Cap mustnt be too bad. Would be around the $500-600k at least a year. Im just guessing though haha

His lack of pace isn't our problem. Patten wasn't the fastest fullback in the comp but when we played fast, up-tempo footy on the back of good go forward it didn't matter. We are slow around the play the ball. That's where we need to make massive improvement. Faster play the balls. Faster service out of dummy half. Faster decision making from our first receivers. Maybe making a play for Peats is the answer. I think Mbye at 5/8th, alongside an established half like Foran will be a hell of a lot better than he is at the moment. A spine of Hoppa/Mbye/Foran/Peats could take us to the top 4.
