Any of you kennelers live in these areas? I am looking to buy a house and they seem pretty affordable out there. Good connections to the city via train from holsworthy given the distance.
Went for a drive out there today and it's pretty decent place to raise a family.

I know they want to build the a massive logistics centre at moorebank but any other down sides I should consider?

Pros
- Central logistical location to major public transport /roads.
- Affordable compared to most markets.

Cons
- Elevated bush fire risk.
- Proximity to Holsworthy Army Barracks firing ordinance for practice.
- Major shopping centre(s) 15-20mins away.

Solution : Move to Campbelltown and come slum it with the rest of us good folk ... :thumb:

I've got a bunch of mates that live there (5 different families) and I also played oztag there for 8years. Never saw any issues although the live fire exercises would be loud, we could hear them from my old place in bass hill, so next door, they would be LOOOUUUD !!
The proposed transport intermodal will definitely put pressure on the road network out there as well. Heathcote rd will become more of a nightmare that it already is.

Cheers thanks for the info

What's the story with the firing ranges? Are they on the go 24/7?

Do you commute to cbd for work each day?

Yeah it seems as if the trucks will be moving along m5 and Hume hwy mostly but as I commute to cbd for work each day via public transport I don't see this as a huge issue.
I guess as the new centre is 24/7 then the weekends would be bad also.

Played touch footy there many years ago and spend loads of time there
Hammondville would be the pick if I needed to live there

theyre about half-way through already lol. its opposite the street i work in.

wattle grove is a really nice area. a lot of military residence around so id imagine its a decent place to raise a family. as for holsworthy, i have a mate that used to live there and he mentioned there were a few ferals living in the area.

I used to live in Illawong with all the bush much like the above areas.

Riding trail bikes on fire trails was great fun!

It's not constant. More occasional. But when it happens, I'm at the southern tip of Campbelltown, and anything fired within 10-20km E-NE of where I live is enough to rattle the ground and some windows, so I can only imagine what closer suburbs are like.

As for travel : Train to city in a smidge over an hour. Beach is 30-40mins away. I work in Granville, where a good day of driving gets me there in 45mins.

True, but you have to buy where you can afford,
Getting into real estate is important in my opinion.

I wish him all the best and hope he finds something he can afford and get onto the real estate round about.

Very true.

Remember, buy the worst house in the best street and not the other way around.

I went there for lunch yesterday. Steak was good. Place was full of young families mostly. It seemed pretty normal but I am sure in fri/sat nights it might take on a different dimension!

Thanks all for your feedback. Always good to get an opinion from people who love/socialise in the area compared to the real estate agent trying to sell you the house!
Any other info that comes to mind feel free to post.
