hayden was a weapon don't think we will ever see a combo like hayden and gilchrist opening our one day batting again.
im pretty sure we will dude. people were saying the same thing when gilly and mark waugh were opening...and when tendulkar and ganguly were opening....now it's gambhir and sehwag.

i reckon warner/hughes and marsh will be the future in odi's

I dont agree with Warner either but there was just something special about his innings. Is wasnt just pinch hitting, he actually hit to the field, worked the bowlers out and played to his strengths. Very clean hitting though.

His innings came at a time when people were looking for something new and someone to stand out, the fact that he was picked straight from park cricket added to the hype.

His biggest regret right now would be already putting pen to paper for an IPL contract. I am guessing he would of signed for around US$100k. He would now be worth at least US$600k on auction. The fact that he is a young, blond true blue aussie (aka Brett Lee) would also have the Indian merchandising gurus licking there lips ready to sign him up. They love that stuff over in india.
He's signed for 300k, and plays for Easts 1st grade in the Sydney Grade comp...he's played 10 one dayers and 10 2020's for the blues just no sheffield shield matches.

His hitting was clean but we haven't seen anything on his technique. You're pretty special if you can hit sixes off the 1st 2 balls you face from Dale Steyn. I thought Duminy's innings was alot more classical and the shots were proper ones not all cow corner and square of the wicket swipes and heaves.

by the way kudos to hayden for his wonderful career. made big hundreds and lots of them

infact he made 29 in the last 9 years of cricket...a crazy feat.

Was picked for the ashes tour of 1993 but didn't get a spot with Slater doing well...could've made over 12,000 runs by now but honestly he's been a champion player since that 1999 india tour

If you are correct Lord Almighty why did the commentators keep on saying that he hasn't played 1st class cricket yet. Would not making the blues 1 day side make him a 1st class cricketer.

Jumped before he was pushed.

I don't watch too much cricket, unless it's a one-dayer or 20/20 match. But I heard reports his form did slip alot especially during the recent test a/g South Africa

congrats to hayden on a great career

my highlight was his time with justin langer in the most dominating opening test batsmen for quite some time

them 2 ruled test cricket in their prime

all medias fault tbh, very sad to seem him go once the media got on his back it was over. I cant see why anyone has talked bout hussey, hes made less runs then haydos all summer, and im sure most people will take an inform hayden over hussey any day of the week. I'm pretty sure Hayden would of found his form soon if it wasn't for the media.

That's the unfortunate thing. We don't/won't know if this was just a form slump or the beginning of the end. It's too late.

Nah 1st class means domestic/state long form cricket.
State 2020 and one dayers are classified as "list A".

The only time I recall a bloke playing for a country in tests with no 1st class matches was a paki off spinner named Tauseef Ahmed. Imran Khan saw him in the nets and put him in the side. He took 8 wickets on debut.

i seriously would believe that he will begin to make runs, hes just to good of a player. And thats why its disappointing because there has been the likes of hussey been a flop all summer and hasn't even been talked bout, so why haydos when he is our most experience and probably the best opener Australia has had.
