Actually a smart idea. And could be a way to push for a top 30 spot. Gives people something to watch over the offseason. Only thing is how they fit in their break. But if it’s a way to get the under 20s, reserve graders and maybe even the u18s to come together. Get some experience and maybe even in the hope of making a squad at the end it will get the players geed up for it.

That and nationally televised games should be enough motivation to get it off the ground.

May be make a rule for every team that 2 spots are open in the Development Squad for the guys who make the best impact in that competition?

The guys know then there's something tangible to aim for?

Make a big deal about the presentation as each clubs pick... like the AFL draft night or similar. Fans are starved for innovative news on juniors and players.

There's so many more entertaining ways to promote NRL. Glad we have Gus.
