I think Pele has been signed to Super League. Also read we may have signed Jake Turpin which seems strange if we already have Salmon, Mann and Hutchinson who can all play hooker.

NRL.com has us with 23 players including Taaffe, Xerri, Crichton and Samon. That leaves 7 players to fill the spots. If we add Hutchinson, Mann and Taukeiaho and I also think Poasa Faamausili that leaves 3 spots left. Topine is already signed for 2024 and I also read that Mariner has also been given permission to leave if he wants but I am not sure this is true.

Alex Twal may also be a possible signing after being spotted having coffee with Ciraldo. A swap between Sea Eagles Keppie and Twal was reported but Keppie may be going to Souths. Maybe we can do a swap with Mariner.

But 2 or 3 spots is not many to fill especially if we are to promote any lower grade players like Isaac Matalavea-Booth and considering players like Burns and Hughes unsigned who have not done too much wrong and especially if we want to leave 1 or 2 spots open for later signings.
still need to add morri edwards and wilson

Turpin would be reserve grade hooker and would only be in the team if Reed got injured. It's not worst signing if min wage.

Guys we need to be more strategic than this and not get excited with this Keon Bilanghi dude.
Just because he is off contract doesn’t mean we need to go for him.
Look at the CONTEXT of how our squad should look like and act accordingly.
What we need is a bench second rower. Not a marquee second rower. We already have 800 large in kikau and Preston is doing a job.
So we need backup.
What makes more sense to me is instead of laying out 900 for Keon, we lay out 500 for Angus Crichton who would complement Preston and Kiks.
The 300 large can be invested to what we really need.
A real marquee halfback or a prop leader
We need to get our spine complete and then look for a marquee prop and back rower. The rest is moneyball and we have 2nd row covered.
Let’s be patient and a prop will at one point present itself

Yeah its also reported on Zero tackle. If thats the case I think its a pretty good signing. Its been a long time since we have had 2 specialist hookers. Turpin is strong in defence so that should tighten up our poor defence.
Turpin offers a bit more in attack to Mahoney. Mahoney's attack might improve too if he isn't playing 80 minutes every week

I’ve always been a strategic thinker this is why I’ll be a good doggs coach
Not the first time I’ve said words about squad composition
definitely not the first.. though possibly the first coherent thought and sensible offering to TK mixing bowl of madness!!

You make some good points, the only problem I can see here is there’s every chance Angus is fried, not sure he’s come back anywhere near the player he was before his little sabbatical.

I’d be very wary of anyone Roosters are happy to move on … Angus could very well be another regrettable move.

Certainly played much better in 22 compared with after his sabbatical in 23 .. would hate to see something like this MUSHROOM into a problem when we’re trying to clean that chit out.

He is on massive coin too. Also the fact Rugby Australia who is desperate turned him down is also worrying.

Angus on 1+1 club option and low coin, pushed as the opportunity for him to get his game and reputation back, might work for him and us.

Problem is roosters signed him for 800-1mil last year and I doubt they would be willing to contribute much. Maybe 200 k max. That means we would still need to pay him 600k plus which is a big risk considering what happened this year.

For me, they would have to pay the majority to make it worth it to us.
As you expressed, that's unlikely.

Josh Curran given permission to negotiate with rivals. 2 Sydney clubs are interested. Only 23. Get it done Gus
Absolute machine on the field, and probably the same off it too.

I'm a big fan though. Aggressive and runs a good line.

Bit ridiculous Wahs are clearing him out tbh. Let’s hope its true although I have my doubts considering the source is Moley

Can he play lock? Definitely a great attacking backrower.
