For many players this is the only chance they have at a rep jumper. For others it is a chance to try and cement a blues jumper.

So it is easy to see why some players choose to play but for others it's totally unnecessary (most of the origin team is picked without having anything to do with this game) and is an injury risk which could jeopardise their spot in their team.

I doubt they get much money from it, it's never been about that.
