we Can afford him especially when you consider the number of superstars and roster of the storm. I would sign him as our long term half back. He fees so much more than sexton and woods is no certainty to live up to the hype

I would get him on a 5 year deal & give them woods to get the deal done.

It's not about affordability, it is about having trust in players we have signed to do the job based on their abilities, in order to be fair to these players we must give them a fair chance to prove their metal, no need to panic buy we have Gus & Co in full control of the situation !!!
 
Burto and Sexy are the best halves combo we have had in years. They've had one full season together and we played finals for the first time in six years. This year has been our best start to a season in a long time, purring on 28 and 40 in our opening two games respectively. There is so much upside in our halves, they're still young.. I reckon we need to lock them both up long-term.

We need better than Sexton (need to hope Woods is the goods) if we want to win the comp, especially if we're not going to have a superstar fullback. To compete with Panther and Storm we probably need both. Throw on top both Burton and Mahoney have their issues. Gus tried to make a play for Papenhuyzen (and Hunt) and has spoken glowingly about Galvin ("whoever has him will be winning comps") - what he's doing at his age is better than anyone, including Cleary, so I think he's thinking something similar.

I have faith in Sexton. Especially in next few years when most experienced 7s will be retired

It's only his second full season tbf. Even Cleary took a few years to get going, and he had plenty of doubters early on. Not saying Sexy will be a Cleary, Cleary is one of a kind, but at 50 games, Sexy is just getting started.

I don't think Sexton will be here after this year, at the longest the year after, but if he is he's probably proved me and other doubters wrong so I guess time will tell. With Sexton still not contracted for next year Gus is still iffy on him at the least. If I'm being 100% honest I had more faith in Lachlan Lewis than I do now in Sexton (in a much better team).

I reckon he will stay because the club has looked after him. Wild to have more faith in Lewis imo

Yeah just showing how low I rate Sexton I guess. I think he's going to be found out with Burton out for the next handful of weeks, but we'll see how that goes as a start.
