Essentially this is the crux of the problem. How do you fix that?

We need a better relationship with the refs so they start seeing fault with the opposition as well.

Calling out refs for their stupidity is not allowed?

Between your two posts, you hit the nail on the head.

Hence why I say I wish we were good enough so that the ref's don't decide the W or L.

Good post. I bag out the refs but only bc there's a problem....the stats prove it but agree wholeheartedly that being negative about our prospects of winning is problematical. I have lost footy comps, tippingcomps when in front bc I will NEVER bet or pick against my beloved team no matter what or the circumstances.

The shit teams typically give away more penalties as they lack discipline, give the other team more time in possession, are slower around the ruck and frustration tends to manifest into generally poor decision making. The reality is if we were winning who would give a hoot about the penalty tally.

Makes sense and I’m ok with that, it’s the part where they micro focus on that & forget to ref the better team that pisses me off ..

30-9 last 3 games the penalty count is

Well we should be better disciplined....

Nothing outrageous with about 8 penalties conceded per game. 30 is slightly more over 3 weeks.

It's the fact we don't "draw" enough penalties out of the opposition that is probably the issue.

I acknowledge the opposition aren't clean skins and should have been penalised more about over that time, but we don't exactly play a fast brand of footy that catches the opposition out and draws out penalties.
