What a cracking game!!! As the post teads, its the first time im happy after a game in a long while. Sure a win would have been so much better, but im really proud of the boys!!! Here are some positives i took out of the game:
1. Our defense was aggressive. It caused turnovers directly leading to a try. They put it to them the whole game!
2 . We were in it up to our eyeballs until the whistle blowed fulltime. Something we havnt managed in a while.
3. We scored some points!! If not for goal kicking we would have drawn this game and made it golden point.
4. Bar one kick, i think Mbye kicked well. Nice high kicks that allowed plenty of time for our defense to arrive and put pressure on them.
5. We ball played. Especially in the last 20.
6. Mbye passed to reynolds and vice versa several times.
7. Elliot had some good touches, even scored a try off a great line he ran. Good to see the guy have more time on the field and get some confidence.
8. Graham looked to be ball playing a bit more. Great pass for elliots try.
9. Another good game from brenko. I know, i know, he had a few shockers, but he also had some good touches. he has only had the offseason to gel with the side, and he will get better and better. I think he will prove to be a good buy.
10. Really sad to see our goal kicking go out the window after holland went off, ( i bet we all want him back in the side next week ) but i really enjoyed seeing mariner on the field for almost a whole game. Wasnt spectacular but did pull of a massive tackle to give us the ball back after eastwood had it stolen. Good to see he lasted the whole game too. Should have eastwoods position next week in my opinion.
11. No brain snaps from reynolds!
12. After 2 losses our for and against is only -10, and we have lost against 2 very good football teams, and managed to gold our own in both games.
This football team has a long way to, but we showed some good spirit and persistence today, and showed some enterprise with the ball in hand.
