Parramatta have announced 11 players will be leaving the club as the Eels look to freshen up their roster after coming up short in another finals series.
David Gower is retiring to take up a role in the club's education and wellbeing team while fellow forward Peni Terepo has decided to take a break from the game and "will look to re-evaluate his footballing future in the coming months", according to the Eels statement.
Kane Evans is joining the Warriors and Stefano Utoikamanu is off to the Wests Tigers while Jai Field, Andrew Davey, Rhys Davies, Jaeman Salmon and Brad Takairangi will not have their contracts renewed.
Development squad members Watson Heleta and Kyle Schneider have also been released.
Mature-age rookie Davey has already found a new home, signing a two-year deal with Manly.
The hard working back-rower has played 10 first grade matches after making his NRL debut for the Eels against the Sea Eagles at Lottoland in July this year. He played in both of Parramatta's finals matches.
Meanwhile, the Titans have confirmed centre Patrick Herbert will join their ranks in 2021, bolstering their back line after the loss of Young Tonumaipea to Super Rugby.
Herbert debuted for the Warriors in 2019 and played 13 games for the club this season, scoring seven tries.
"The [Titans] finished the season really strongly and I'm excited by what we can do next year," Herbert said.
Melbourne have re-signed prop Christian Welch until the end of 2022 and also secured the future of fellow forward Max King on a one-year extension.
Welch, who debuted for the Maroons in last year's State of Origin series, made his NRL debut for the club in 2015.
"Christian is having an outstanding 2020 to back up earning his first jersey for the Maroons last year," Storm general manager of football Frank Ponissi said.
"What we like a lot about Christian is the leadership skills that he possesses on and off the field and the dedication he puts into improving his game."
With an eye to the future, the club has also announced that Jack Howarth will join Storm’s full-time squad for the first time at the start of pre-season.
The Panthers have fended off rivals who were eager to pounce on their rising star by re-signing Charlie Staines until the end of 2023.
The 20-year-old outside back, who scored four tries in his NRL debut against Cronulla this season, has agreed to a contract extension, the club announced on Wednesday.
