Dealing with Rumours...

Seeing as the mods are lazy and don't do anything these days (relax... I'm joking), how about anytime a thread in the Bulldogs Discussion lounge contains baseless rumours that the thread title is changed so it is prefixed with RUMOUR: until it can be changed to CONFIRMED: or DENIED: ?

Otherwise, people constantly enter the thread to either read the rumour (thinking it is fact), or to see if it's status has changed, thus helping to spread the rumour.

In some cases deleting the thread does nothing to change the fact that it is still only a rumour so it continues to spread (either here or on other boards)

By keeping it in the thread title, people will instantly know the status of the rumour (no excuses for being mislead) so it will help keep it's spread under control.

Sometimes it is good to keep up with the rumours (especially when they are very widespread) so deleting is not always an option.

Good idea and probably one us mod's should start employing.

A thread will be Rumour until some kind of credibility can be put such as sources etc.

Probably in the thread if you just say something without backing it up we will just ask what your source is for the rumour.

It could also be useful to have a few more statuses, such as:
RUMOUR: This is how it starts. Neither confirmed or denied
DENIED - No way it is true
UNLIKELY - A "reliable source" has denied it
CONFIRMED - A "reliable source" has confirmed it
OFFICIAL - It has been offically confrmed

But you got to be careful not to confuse people either!

If the mods think the whole title thing is a good idea then that is also worth giving some thought.

As long as the Thread Title is listed as a RUMOUR first, and then we can change it when it ir either confirmed or denied
