I just want to start by saying thankyou, thankyou so much to all the supporters who have posted well wishes and messages of support over the last week or so.

There has been a lot of confusion regarding what's actually happening with Davids career. I had so many fans ask me last night at the game about this that I decided to officially explain the situation.

We have been at the Bulldogs the last 4 seasons and have absolutely loved our time here more than we could have ever imagined. Our son was born a bulldog and loves them to bits. It's been a home away from home and a second family. Unfortunately David will not be at the club next year. We as a family along with David are devastated as we would have loved to have still been a part of the club in 2013. Due to circumstances it's not possible.

There has obviously been talk about David being linked to the Knights...this is untrue. At this moment David is uncertain as to where his playing future lies in 2013.

Heres hoping for a fantastic finish to the 2012 season.

All the very best to your family and please thank David again for his wonderful service. It is indeed a shame he won't be at the club in 2013.

Real shame to hear that. David has been an asset to this club. He joined us during our darkest days, and he is leaves us with great memories. Always put his body on the line for the team, which came 1st.

I wish David, yourself and your family the very best in whatever direction life takes you.

Thank you for clearing this up.

Thank you for taking the time to come on here and keep us up to date, much appreciated. Very surprised that the club hasn't done more and I can only assume it's because the remainder of our games are going to be played at ANZ.

I think I speak for the vast majority of fans in saying that we are all very disappointed that David won't be wearing the blue and white next year. His commitment and passion for the jersey has been exemplary since day one, if every player gave as much as he did week in week out we probably wouldn't have been absent from finals football for the last two seasons.

As a fan base we're so happy we were able to witness David playing under a competent coach again this year and return to the strengths of his game, he has been one of our best all season and gives our forward pack real balance.

I would like to wish him and your entire family all the best in whatever path you take after we send him off with a Premiership. I for one will miss watching him cutting down opposition players that are silly enough to try and get past him.

Good luck David, thank you for embodying everything it means to be a Bulldog.

Let's keep this thread respectful guys, we're pretty lucky to have the partner of one of our champions posting on here with us, let's not make her regret her decision.

Can't we are Dave on the coaching staff as tackling coach or defensive coach?

You must cringe watching your husband with the way he plays. He puts his body on the line in every game but gets up every time. The guy has a huge heart.

I have so much respect for your husband!

If he does not play next year with the Bulldogs I kind of hope he retires and continues working with the club in another area such as teaching the young kids how to tackle!

I'm so used to David being a bulldog that I forget he has played anywhere else.
An absolute champion on the field and a fantastic ambassador for the team off the field.
He will be sorely missed next season. Best of luck guys :grinning:

While it's not possible to find staff spots for every player of quality off contract, I share the sentiments here that David Stagg would be an asset in a non-playing role if one existed.

He has been a strong clubman and his loyalty is commendable. I hope he gets a ring for his efforts this year.

Thanks for filling us in about whats happening Mrs Stagg. I've really appreciated the effort David has put in every week since joining the Bulldogs and i'm one of many disappointed fans knowing he's being forced out of the club. His efforts should have earned him a contract. I'd love to see the club throw David a contract since i think he's been one of our most consistent performers over the last few seasons and seems like he's fit in really well at the club. I'd like to wish your whole family well in future. Hopefully we get to see David pick up a premiership in a few weeks time and a new contract somewhere soon after that.

It is a real shame that the club isn't keeping Staggy on for next year. He has been a consistent performer since he joined us in 2009, a real tackling machine. There was a moment in last nights game, when we had to defend our line for 3-4 sets. The Roosters looked at coming down the blind side and I thought Jono Wright was going to get exposed again like last week. I looked at the bloke on the inside of him and it was David Stagg and immediately knew it was going to be ok. He just gives you that confidence in defence. He also has excellent utility value, able to play most positions if needed.

Hopefully there is an 11th hour offer to David and we can retain him for another couple of years.

Thanks for the update T. Here's wishing you and the family all the best for the years to come.

If David decides to wrap up his stellar career, I hope the club comes to the party and offers him a role in the club someplace.
A person of his character and commitment is a perfect role model for the younger guys comming through.
PROUD WIFE, I hope you and David enjoy every success in your future ventures you both deserve it.
