What an outstanding way to finish a disgusting year!!! The whole team were fantastic yesterday. Our goal line defense was sensational, our attack looked crisp and fluid, and our kicking game was on point!
Averilo had a great game coming back from injury, his kicking game was solid, scored 2 tries and had an assist. Meaney had probably his best game in a dogs jersey. Hetherington was much better playing on an edge, and showed he can be a starting player. Patolo ran hard, was aggressive, and didnt make any mistakes. Jackson was, as usual, tireless in the middle. Even katoa had a great game, controlling the tempo with some very good kicks from dummy half. I think Baz even deserves some credit for getting his bench rotations right for once.
As bad as our year has been it was important to finish on a high. Beating a team 38-0 was unthinkable, but we did it, and the boys will carry this high into the off season. Everyones spirits will be much higher, and once they are joined by the quality recruits we have coming, the off season should be a buzz of energy and good vibes.
Imagine we were instead in the tigers shoes. They will be bitter and disapointed, and there will be constant speculation about their coach getting the chop.
Im a big believer in the importance of sports phsychology, and the positive effects that a win like yesterdays will have, can not be underestimated!!
Our quality recruits are not just average first graders like we have signed over the past few years, they are superstars. Players like Burton, JAC and TPJ have the potential to completely transform our fortunes for next year. They will make the players around them better. And after finishing on a high note, the boys should have a bit more belief in themselves!
Onwards and upwards. Bring on 2022!!!
