CRAIG Wing has quit the NRL to play Japanese rugby union.

The South Sydney star has had money disputes with the Rabbitohs over third party agreements.

There were also suggestions Wing was sounded by the Sydney Roosters - his former club - and Parramatta.

But Wing has decided to leave rugby league for Japanese rugby union - details of his club will be announced this afternoon.

Cronulla's Fraser Anderson quit the NRL earlier this year to sign with Japanese rugby union.

Obviously just going for the moneys, as if he were SERIOUS about a career in rugby, he'd go to Europe.

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have agreed to a request from Craig Wing to release him from the final two years of his contract.

Craig Wing will finish his NRL career at the end of 2009 to take up a highly lucrative two-year deal with Japanese Rugby.

He has been in the top level a long time, he is just doing what many veterans do near the end of their career, go overseas for a retirement package. He did mention he is finding it harder to maintain enthusiasm in the NRL.

On Channel 10 new they said he was released on compassionate grounds, I'm unsure what that would be?

I think this is a loss for rugby league. He still has alot to offer and I don't think that the Rabbitohs provided him with the ideal environment. Shame really.

Yeah..... the move back to the Bunnies just didn't seem right, it has been
a disaster since the Rorter crunch him in the back round 1 last year....
