Wouldn't say he's better than Mahoney... I believe Paix may have been targeted by us in the Barrett era, remember reading something about it back then.

Cory Paixx aint no gun, he's been hidden by the Broncos for good reason he's nothing special.

Don't think just because he started for the Broncos last week that they see him as they're long term hooker, they have injury woes.

To give you an idea the last time he started at hooker was 5 years ago back in 2020, that's a long time he hasn't been able to make the cut.

Turpin maybe but not Mahoney.

In all seriousness though, I just think mahoney needs to trim his numbers, maybe play 60mins. He gets gassed and makes errors (see jacob liddle try last week).
 
He does look the goods, but in fairness Roosters are very likely to be bottom 4 this season. Let's see how he goes against quality outfits.
 
Seems like a player that gets a few chances under new coaches and doesn't sink his teeth in enough. So I'd probably assume he's a career depth player. There are some that hit a point where they gain a bit of consistency and find starting spots in the NRL. So Paix may get there. But I doubt he's going to be the type that recruitment crews chase as a starting hooker. I'd guess he's going to be a cheap insurance policy if the starting 9 has question marks over their fitness.
 
Paix is not better than Mahoney. I wouldn't say no to Paix playing off the bench to backup Mahoney but no way should he be replacing Mahoney as the starting 9.

How do you know Paix runs in drag unless you're out with him on friday nights?

If Mahoney’s game time was managed better he can be one of the best rakes on the game.

The inability in the coaching department to see he isn’t an 80min player, even when just watching the game. Although looking at the stats in depth would 100% confirm this. Yet he doesn’t get a breather ever.

Currently we get 40 quality minutes with 20minutes average footy and 20 minutes of costly error and poor discipline footy. If he plays the first 30 & last 30. We would get 60 quality minutes out of Reed.
