Injured Melbourne Storm star Cooper Cronk has been ruled out of Monday night's NRL clash with the Bulldogs.

Cronk, who is recovering from a knee injury, was hopeful of making a comeback in Monday night's match at Belmore Sports Ground.

However he failed to train with the squad in their final session on Sunday before the team flew to Sydney.

He's still a strong chance of playing in the Maroons' State of Origin decider on July 8 in Brisbane.

Shame really would be good to beat a strong Melbourne side. Hard to know where we're really at leading into the bye. Still take the 2 competition points anytime

We would have beaten them either way,
No chance in hell we will lose at belmore

Playing the game is just a mere formality and specticle for us fans,

I dont care if we beat their reserve grade side. As long as we get those two points.

MELBOURNE have resisted rushing injured star halfback Cooper Cronk back into their line-up to face Canterbury in their NRL clash on Monday night.
Cronk, who is recovering from a knee injury, was hopeful of making a comeback at Belmore Sports Ground.

However he failed to train with the squad in their final session on Sunday before the team flew to Sydney.

But Cronk is still a strong chance of playing in the Maroons’ State of Origin decider on July 8 in Brisbane.

Football manager Frank Ponissi said the Test No.7 was close to playing.

“He’s not going to play (against the Bulldogs), he’s not quite ready,” Ponissi said.

“He trained by himself today rather than with the team.

“He wasn’t far off but it’s not worth risking him.”

Ben Hampton, who has been covering for Cronk who sustained the injury against the Raiders in round 13, is set to remain as halfback.

Melbourne are looking to get back in the winners’ circle after back to back losses for the first time this season.

Let's worry about beating a any full strength later in the season when we hopefully have some momentum and consistency. For now the 2 points are important to keep in touch and if our opponents are understrength that makes staying in touch easier.

No slater and no cronk = certain victory. This is our best chance to build on our woeful F/A.

Hate being so tipped to win.
Really do want them to win!
Hopefully belmore will bring that big fame atmosphere that the dogs thrive on.

Easy games are the ones which we have proven to lose. But for this one at belmore I expect a win by atleast 20+

I hope the players don't think they'll win by 30 and it's a mere formality

We won like 56-8 last time we played at belmore during the trial although it was against a nsw cup knights side, still think we will put on plenty of points.

Great more pressure on us.

Seriously if we can't beat a Storm side without Slater and Cronk we don't deserve to be in the finals this year

We need to put Pressure on smith and green, only kickers!! Go along way to winning don't give them time to put in good kicks, green was deadly against broncs for repeat sets last week

Melbourne are a tough side with a great coach. I thought they played well last week vs Broncos, just their execution plus some amazing Broncos defence denied them that win.

This will not be a walk in the park, whoever thinks so is going to get a rude shock come Monday night.

Tough match coming up..
Possibly but we have the blueprint to beat melbourne, we are their bogey side.
