Club Statement: Junior League Incident

Caitlin Glanville - Media & Communications Manager
Mon 5 Jun 2023, 03:10 PM

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs and Parramatta Eels, together with their respective Junior League Associations, have issued a 'stand-down' notice, effective immediately, to the two Open Mens teams involved in the Chester Hill car park incident on Sunday afternoon.

Both Clubs have a strict no violence policy and will not tolerate behaviour such as this within our Junior League competitions.

The Clubs each take matters of this nature very seriously and are fully cooperative with the on-going investigation that is underway by NSWRL and the NSW Police.

The Bulldogs and Eels will stand together this weekend in the Round 15 NRL Premiership match in support of the i4Give Cup, and we ask that all Junior League registered participants continue to act with respect and in the appropriate manner of sportsmanship towards their counterparts in competition.

There is no place for violence in our game.

Neither Club will be making any further comment on the matter at this time.

Rugby league officials and police are set to investigate a shocking brawl captured on video that spilled into a carpark at an A Grade game at Chester Hill on Sunday afternoon.

The incident involving players and fans from the Berala Bears and the Lalor Park Kookas broke out about 30 minutes after the completion of their match at Terry Lamb Complex in Sydney’s west.

The fight lasted about one minute and had broken up by the time police arrived, with officers from the local Bankstown Police Area Command now investigating after being provided with the footage.

Lalor Park secretary Sonia Smart said she was “horrified” at the incident.

Chester Hill is a horrible place to play, sore losers, can't take it. These were different sides playing, but Hornets ground, Parramatta should seriously consider removing a couple of clubs from that combined comp.

Canterbury joined up MacArthur years ago, then joined the parra district
As kids get older, kids and teams drop off and then join other districts to have more teams to play against,I think that’s fair enough

Sorry that's not the FACTS.

The Canterbury District and Wests Macarthur were joined a long time ago from u13s and up.

2 years ago the NSWRL wanted to strengthen the south by combining Group 6 ( Picton, Appin, Camden, narellan etc ) with Macarthur to have a strong district out there.

NSWRL wanted to combine 2 strong Sydney metro districts hence Canterbury and Parramatta were told to combine due to strength of comps, number of teams etc.

So it's not who joined who, it's all NSWRL directed and clubs have to follow.

Canterbury comp is actually very strong with 12 clubs.

Lalor Park Kookas
They love a fight lol. I used to live near their home ground and remember seeing a game of under 15/16s and they were psychopaths.

Judging by the report and footage, sounds like LP incited it, but come off second best.
