Chris Smith to join the Bulldogs before the June 30 deadline

Roosters second-rower Chris Smith is to join the Bulldogs for the remainder of the 2018 season as a replacement for Raymond Faitala-Mariner who has suffered a season-ending posterior cruciate knee injury, in addition to a broken hand, from New Zealand's loss to England in the Denver Test.

24 year-old Smith, who made his debut for the Panthers in 2015 and has added two matches with the Roosters over the past two seasons, was due to join the Bulldogs at the end of this season. That has now been brought forward to beat the June 30 deadline for switching clubs.

Smith, who has signed for the next two seasons, will offer additional depth to the Bulldogs in the back row.

Can't ever remember so many changes at the Dogs in such a short period of time. Sad news for RFM but at least it won't affect our season as it is already gone. Good to see the club moving quickly during these dark times.

Only seen him play half a game against our ISP team. The guy was a stand out with his aggressive style, certainly was giving it to our blokes

Was just about to say this. Jmoz went from a flyer pre 2014 to a shot horse within the space of a month due to that injury

I think Jmoz did it once in 2011 then again in 2014. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t even have a PCL anymore. Least RFM won’t be rushed back.

Has anyone seen Billy Beane around the place and his sidekick Peter Brand. The new salary cap approach is Moneyball. Hey it worked for the Red Socks, why not the doggies..

When the apple barrel is empty one has no option but to take the silt at the bottom and hope that some of that silt bears new fruit
