The last few weeks have seen Tonga get back to almost his best. Defensively he has been very solid all year but in attack the last 3-4 weeks he has really stood up. His running game is brilliant and his trademark skip and step is once again becomming an effective weapon. The only thing that has really been getting to me lately is that recently he will step past his opposite centre or draw the opposite winger in only to hog the ball and get tackled when the winger is free. I think he is trying too hard to be a hero and just wants to score that miracle try that he was able to score constantly a couple of years ago.

Folkes should really sit him down and talk to him about when it is best to pass and when he should hog the ball, because in the past few weeks I think he has hardly passed at all.

If Nanai was playing on the other side he would've scored a couple of tries IMO. Tonga gave him no chance to score.

his passes to utai were good after beating his opponent and drawning winger in

maybe its a ploy, one game he will pass everytime and his winger wills score 6 tries

I agree. There was a time in the first half where he could have passed it to Heka and he would have been a certainty of scoring.

Other than that, he is playing very well. His defence is awesome.

In 2004 if Tonga could pass utai would have been leagues top try scorer by a mile!

Heka had the jitters though so even if he got the ball i dont know if he would have ran straight to the line. A few times when he had the ball in open space he was looking around who he could pass to and not take the run. With a few more 1st grade games the jitters should pass.

if he could learn to stop being a ball hog he will be such a better player than he is at the moment

the answer to your question is clear. NO. his inability to pass or make a decision in play contributed to PL getting smashed by the raiders in PL when him and roberts got dropped. he is either a selfish hog of a thing or he can't pass a ball. either way it has a detrimental effect on a game.

Nanai didn't get much ball last night because of Tonga. Yes, Tonga needs to pass more but he can't be discouraged not to run. He just needs to be more selective.

Nanai was definitely made to look ordinary last night because Tonga didn't pass it to him but oh well, he'll get his chance another time I'm sure.

He has always been a holder of the ball but does pass at times

His form has pleased me since his return from PL :grinning:

i thought nanai went super last night. Maybe loosing Utai might not hurt with this young kid coming through.

BTW Tonga rocks
