Gus has already said we are developing our halves. There are many problems with Munster:
- He goes missing in big games
- He is reportedly on the outer at Strom, anyone who is on the outer at Strom probably has significant issues, it seems like he would be a bad fit for our culture
- He isn't going anywhere for a pay cut. Unless we can offload someone on 500k+, and Strom are willing to pay the balance, it simply isn't going to happen. Anyone saying "oh let's trade him for these three players" has no idea how this works. We have to end up fitting 30 players under the cap, that means that if you use the money from three players to pay for 1, you are 2 players short, and have no money under the cap to pay for them.
- He and Burton are both left side dominant! If there is anyone we want from Strom it is Hughes, who is right side dominant.
- He looks like a top quality player, but we haven't seen him play behind an average or worse than average forward pack too often, the way JT and Andrew Johns had to do for considerable periods of their careers.
- He doesn't want to be here. He is on record wanting go to QLD, particularly the new franchise. This of itself would be unsettling for the team. The only 1 year contracts we want are for people who know they need to turn up to earn a new contract.
