Although it was a great win against the Storm, we really need to fix up our opening 20min of our games. Apart from the Sharks game we have been losing the first quarter of games this year and its hurt us in 2 of our 4 games by a couple of points. I hope we fix this up this week against the Roosters as we don't want to give them any unnecessary confidence early on as they are the type of side who could run away from us if we give em an inch. I think they did it to us last year from memory.
We sort out the first 20min and we will be close to being at our best.
Also, there was still some typical rubbish attack on the opposition's try line, throughout the game. Nothing flat passes from dummy half to forwards not even running onto the ball.

However, our intensity and creativity, in general, was such an improvement. It was very enjoyable to watch.

Feel for us in QLD, who every weekend have to put up with the Donkeys playing the live game. Almost tempting to drive to Tweed Heads to catch it live!

Our Defence is in for its biggest test this year against the chooks.
Their ability to cause misreads in the defence is bloody good!
The quality of their runners in hitting the right hole and running the right line, make Mitchell Pearce and Maloney's passes look like freaking Wally Lewis was throwing them in his prime.

Get the defence right and we're in this up to our eyeballs!

this would be the game of redemption for the dogs .If they win this game the confidence in themselves will be through the roof!

They beat us twice easily last year. Beating a Storm team without Cameron Smith after he trained the whole week is not the measuring stick. Refs will help Roosters this week after stuffing them up last week. Also we don't have much luck against teams with either SBW or Mason.

Several mitigating factors at work in this game ...

(1) JWH : Suspended. Drains the squads ability to capitalise on quick bursts. Other have to increase their 80min workloads. If we play smart, and disciplined, we can outlast them.

(2) Gun-shy SBW : He didn't touch the ball against us in 2013 until the 8th minute of his first match against us, where one cut-out pass started a rot we couldn't contain. He's not an 80min performer but a stat like that proves he doesn't need to be. On Friday he returns where he's being forced to pack away his shoulder charges, and in the absence of JWH, he's being forced into an 80min role, rather than an impact role.

(3) Referees : Both us and Roosters are serial penalty givers. Trent Robinson had a massive whinge after they lost to Manly amid a penalty count of 11-2. We WILL be punished repeatedly if we allow the refs to begin blowing whistles. Gotta play smart and disciplined. It's a non-negotiable fact.

(4) Pritchard + Graham + Jackson : Are they fit ? Does losing any of them nullify Roosters losing JWH ?

So much to consider ...

The grub jwh should of received 6 weeks for that hit. Bald stewart wasnt even looking and was whacked on the jaw. Could of broken it or a cheekbone. Even sbw on tv said that if he got 3 weeks jwh should of got more.

All the media have been downplaying our win against the storm saying they had to bounce back from Monday night and couldn't get a training session in plus smith being out.

If we beat the roosters with money bill williams I think the team will finally get the props they deserve.

This will be a very good game for us. We win wow the amount of confidence we will get out of this. No expectations so no disappointments. If we do pull off a win it will be 1-12.

Worst part is Robinson blasted the refs last week cause of the lopsided penalty count (even though they base their game plan around conceding penalties). So I can almost certainly expect a lopsided penalty count against us which could be a killer!

No expectations? Really? The way we played last week and the way they have played so far this year means we should be disappointed with a loss.
