Bulldogs boss Phil Gould is set to embark on a signing spree in the coming weeks with a hit list of targets revealed to help turn the struggling club around in 2024.
The Daily Telepgraph reported the Bulldogs are in talks with Roosters hooker Jake Turpin and Knights utility Kurt Mann as well as Tri-colours half Drew Hutchison and forward Poasa Faamausili.
Gould is aiming to strengthen the depth of the Bulldogs squad after they fell off a cliff when injuries hit after a strong start to 2023.
Faamausili spent 2023 at the Dolphins but is expected to switch to the Bulldogs next season.
The influx of signings is expected to coincide with a roster clean-out with a number of unwanted players on the chopping block.
Local junior Paul Alamoti remains unsigned for 2024 and has attracted interest from a number of rivals, but it remains to be seen if he is in the Bulldogs long-term plans.
Turpin has played 15 games for the Roosters in 2023 after a 60-game career with the Broncos since his NRL debut in 2018.
The 26-year-old would provide handy back-up to skipper Reed Mahoney, who had to handle the bulk of the dummyhalf workload in 2023.
Mann has scored 45 tries in 177 NRL games and has played 17 matches for the Knights in 2023 to date, but is on the outer at Newcastle.
The 30-year-old veteran would provide invaluable experience for the Bulldogs and would add much needed depth to their bench, while he provides excellent flexibility for coach Cameron Ciraldo should injuries strike.
Hutchison has scored 12 tries in 75 games for the Dragons and Roosters since his debut in 2015, including 17 for the Tri-colours in 2023.
The 28-year-old can cover multiple positions including the halves, hooker and centre as well as being an excellent bench utility option.
Journeymen Faamausili has played 43 NRL games for the Roosters, Warriors, Dragons and Dolphins.
The 27-year-old played just four games for the Dolphins this season, but could provide much needed depth the Bulldogs forward stocks, which proved thin at times in 2023.
While none of the potential signings are marquee players that will turn the Bulldogs around on their own, the combination of depth and players from winning cultures could be just what Cameron Ciraldo needs to return the Belmore club to the finals.
