I answered your question... would you like me to break it down for you?

You asked where are you wrong?

I replied by showing you your statement about how is keating doesn't play like a 5/8. Which in my opinion is a very stupid and silly statement.
if you actually read the question, i asked where my definition was wrong.

Would have thought an extra prop on the bench rather than 3-4 second rowers

Am I right in saying this team lacks props? In that regard one if the worst front row combo for a while?

Tolman is our only recognised prop. Paea is a prop/back rower. Then eastwood his first choice is backrow, halatau back row/utility, foster backrow/lock/5/8, payne backrow/lock/prop.

None on the bench would be regarded as front rowers (although payne can fill in there and eastwood has done well there before). I guess we are feeling the pinch with a few front row injuries and the tandy saga. Our only true front rower is tolman. Guess he will be excited by the signing of graham more then anyone :p
Been saying the same thing since we sacked Tandy, and if we aren't going to play Kasiano or Armit we basically have one specialist prop in our team in Tolman. A whole pack of second rowers who can fill in at prop does not get you on the go forward. Bring on James Graham, hope he is prepared to play a lot of minutes because we don't have anyone else.

The role of five-eigthth does change from team to team. At times a halfback can play the five-eighths role. Look at Tigers, Benji does all the organising which a halfback you would think do. Lui does all the listening to marshall and supporting marshall. The Broncos and Dragons are a similar case. The five-eighth does most of the organising while the halfback supports the five-eighth. However, you look at a team like the rabbitohs, sandow does all the organising plays and set plays, etc etc, whilst Sutton does all the typical five-eighth job by running the ball and passing at the line. Other teams with this combination are Knights, Cowboys and Roosters. And then their are the combinations where the halfback and five-eighth share roles. In this case, I would include the warriors, sharks, eels and at times the dogs. keating plays a typical five-eighth when the team is easily making metres. for example eels game. however, when forwards arent making metres, then his game changes and he tries to play more of a halfback role by helping hodkinson direct traffic out of the half. So i would say, both D10 and the rest of the kennel are somewhat right in both arguments.

Have a look at this... it illustrate what a back line play should look like....and you will see that the 5/8 is most dangerous when running and supporting...

I would prefer starting Payne and bringing Pritchard in after 20... Need aggression from the start

I think I agree with you on this one.

Payne seems to be the better option for starter. Pritchard has been nowhere near as menacing as Payne this year.

Know where your'e coming from. But if Pritchard pulls his finger out and has a red hot go, which we all know he can produce, there is plenty of agression in him both attack and defence.
Which Frank turns up on game day?...we have no idea at this stage, either does Frank!

Payne will be more of an impact player as far as his agression in defence after the first 15 minutes or so. That is the time when StGeorge starts to try and build momentum towards the end of the 1st half.
Payne is a momentum killer!!
