agreed people on here were dumb in 08 and they are still dumb in 2012. Jennings is an origin centre yet not good enough for some in here
I think most people are concerned over the fact that if he's not willing to give his all allegedly for 600k (if the papers have it right) per season, then what do you need to do to motivate him? Do you sacrifice 2 reasonably good forwards from your pack for a player who might touch the ball 5 times in a match?

No doubting he is a quality player when he's putting in but for the money he's earning he should be one of the players who's inspiring the rest of the side rather than being dropped to NSW cup. He'd be among the first picked in any backline if he was pulling his weight but it's very hard to justify the price tag when he has commitment issues.

My concern with Jennings is that Morris has been around for a few years now and has hardly had a shocking game in any of that time. On top of that over the last few months he has been in amazing form on the left. He played right last night and hardly saw any ball. Hopefully he can get the left centre spot back. Not too sure what Inu's preference is. I know Lafai is a specialist left side player, but I still wanna see our only origin rep playing playing in his preferred position (even though he is out of position for NSW :p lol)

And on Williams. He is a great player, strong runner, massive human, flips players over unwillingly from his strength. But he is injured a fair bit. And to be paying him $500k a year? (is that what he is reportedly going to be getting?) and he only plays you 18 games a year are you getting good value? Halatau is carving up every week, Prichard and Eastwood have been great this year, Stagg is running hard and his defense is strong, We have a few solid players who are looking for their chance to crack first grade. When they do they could be anything.

Its not make or break if we miss out on Williams, we have a strong forward pack (one of the strongest in the comp and one of the most skillfull of all time) Williams will only add to it I admit, but then again he will not come cheap and has only been on the field for 2 or 3 games for Manly this year and is not due back for another month. Is it money well spent? Could hasler make another T-rex from one of our juniors? Tupou, Martin, Carter, Klemmer. A few coming through who will be on half or 1/3 of the money of Trex.

He will add alot to the team, but with the current roster it is a position we are very strong in.

We dont need williams at all, I wish we were looking to fix our weak points than boost areas that arent required.

I would rather promote our juniors for half the money then buy Williams that "could" be injury prone.

This way we can build better depth and have players to will be more committed.

Our halves will ask for more money in the future and we need to plan for that as well!

Won't be too upset if we don't get T-Rex but if we do get him we will be unstoppable.

good centres can play on either side of the ruck and morris showed that last night.
the left side went well becasue it had keating constrolling the play and also barba wrapping around behind him offering another option in attack.
the inu/ lafai combo looked good as did the morris/wright combo.
i thought for a team point of view it worked well.

as a team last night was the best we have played.
after two soft tries to begin our defence was excellent and the attack flowed.
both sides of our attack worked well.
credit to keating and reynolds.

Re : Jennings.

HE cost $600K ... we got Josh Morris AND Johno Wright for less than that (who are BOTH scoring more tries than Jennings mind you), AND got change left over.

Just because people (and club admin) don't agree with the reasonsing "superstar players are a must have", it don't make us dumb.

Some of us have our reasons too ...

not too sure what I think about Jennings TBH

no way we should pay $600,000 per year, this is too much for a centre.

but if Penrith are willing to pay half of that, then yeh I say go after him, after all, it is not often that players of his calibre become available like this
