NRL Late Mail: Covid crisis for Bulldogs ahead of Broncos clash
The Canterbury Bulldogs have been rocked by injury and Covid ahead of Friday night’s crucial clash against the Broncos.
The Bulldogs are poised to apply for special NRL exemption after being rocked by a Covid and injury crisis.
The Bulldogs are struggling to finalise their team ahead of a crucial road trip to Brisbane against the Broncos on Friday night.
Bulldogs GM of football Phil Gould confirmed the club’s dilemma via social media on Wednesday morning.
“Covid and injury issues @NRL_Bulldogs this morning. Players have been sent for PCR tests to confirm RAT results. We will be applying to NRL for exemptions to fill our player quotas for this trip to Brisbane. The world these days.”
The Bulldogs have at least four players from their NRL squad who returned a positive RAT test on their arrival to training at Belmore on Wednesday morning.
The four players have been sent for a follow-up PCT test to confirm the positive result.
Every player is ordered to undergo a RAT test before training under NRL protocols.
A large majority of the Bulldogs squad went for dinner on Tuesday night.
Adding to the depth crisis are injuries to outside backs Braidon Burns (hamstring) and Corey Allen (leg).
Jayden Okunbor and Isaac Lumelume are being discussed as options, providing they have recieved a negative test result.
