Well Done MITCH
Alot of talent coming off contract this year, lets hope we resign & sign quality & not quantity
Would be great if we could get a list of players coming off contract from other clubs so we can all speculate as always

If we sign Israel Folau I will deadset pogo to Melbourne - and back - on my old fella!!!! :O

Melbourne will offload half their squad before they let him go - and he actually seems like a nice, smart, level-headed kid that has some good people & good advisors around him & knows the value of more than just a dollar anyway.....he ain't going anywhere. : /

There are plenty of guys who need to impress to get a contract. I think we can safely say goodbye to Emelio and Phelps, who has been nothing but half solid fill ins for the last few years and same goes for Morrin. But guys like Hickey, Armit, Cleal and especially Tonga need to really impress in 2008.

Hey i'm gunna give a quick rundown to season 2008- which i believe will reflect broadly on off field issues...

1. Andrew Ryan to leave or not to leave?

I’m a realist- although I hope I’m proved wrong- but I don’t see the dogs being top 4 material, unless other teams play below standard- which has been the norm since the last couple of years. Would the dogs pay more $$$$ to Ryan- (to his credit which he is due), if the season isn’t doing so well?
Management are stuck. Many changes have occurred at the dogs- and it’ll be foolish on them to dump him at this time. But what do you consider foolish if the price asked from ryan does not reflect his ability, and the dogs ability to spend WISELY in 2009?

2. They loose Ryan to parramatta

3. Either if this does occur- the telecrap will blow it up in proportions- watch a board room coup- Noad to resign. This is their objective.

4. I'm a born and bred bulldog- but if i don't see any improvement in the dogs kicking game in game 1 and in the halfs (note: Ben Roberts)- this season will be a write off. The telecrap knows this and will emphasise what has happened to this club since 2004 and blame it on management considering NRL sets the salary cap.

I wish i am proved wrong- and keep highlighting it to emphasise my mistakes but don't expect too much too soon.

5. For the rorters out there....
As an exclusive for late 2008: Nate Myles to leave.

im not expecting bulldogs to go all the way this yr but ill be happy if they make the finals because really this year is more of rebuilding the team and adapting to the new style footy.

bulldogs linked to Trent Barret that should be under Rumoured Gains & Links.

also emelio might be leaving heard it from a few weeks ago might be his last season wid the dogs heading to england again... possible leaving mid yr or earlier not sure all depends how much FG games he gets this yr.

2008 will be an interesting yr i believe danny williams will go good this yr a solid forward n a good defender.

Trent Barret could be an interesting buy, I think he's underated because of his then Team's (Dragons) poor performances in past seasons, but If Anasta would come back to the club in 09, would have Braith over Trent just on age.

Why would we want Barrett? Just wondering what people see in him when we have Holdsworth, Groom, Roberts and Barba who all need to develop in that area, plus some guys from U/20's. We don't need someone as over-rated as Barrett.

He might not be a bad buy to play along side a young up and comer like Groom or Barba. A bit you youth and experience. As long as they don't pay overs for him! And only sign him for 1 maybe 2 seasons at most!!

I heard a strong rumour that Frank Pritchard is in the Dogs sights and has been offered big money.

Was originally being targeted for 2008 but looks now like it will be for 2009 and beyond, if he decides to come across.

Franky Pritchard would be a great signing but he really needs to improve his work rate. He can be devastating but he rarely does the hard work.

And as for Trent Barrett...im all for him coming over for a season or 2. Would do wonders for the younger guys imo.
