He's got a clean slate right now. It's up to him to make this the comeback story he's dreaming about. I don't think he'll mess it up.

If he's close to as good as he was when he hits the NRL for us, we'll have picked up a damn good player. If it takes time for him to get any aspect of his game right in the lower grades, so be it.

There's players who've returned from time out and done well. Others that haven't made a splash. But Xerri looks like he's fired up already. Looks as fit as anyone in our squad. Doesn't mean he can handle 80 minutes just now. Timing in defence and attack might both take a lot of tuning. But I think he's going to be a good buy.

He is a gamble. But any signing no matter how good is a gamble.
