When the release of images & incidents have the potential to destroy careers & financially impact clubs, along with players & their "mates" of this era & their total lack of common sense regarding the damage from publication of such incidents, i would argue bikies are much more sensible in their handling of "a few quiet ones with the boys"!! In the days when the game didn't suck; the players had jobs with all the responsibility and maturity that entails.
Nowadays some of these guys come pretty much straight from school and sometimes on good/big money with no real-world experience or maturity to temper their behavior hence the problems.

Really?? Players in the 80’s and 90’s- early 2000’s played drunk and were known cokeheads... Lockyer and Joey for example...
The difference is they didn’t have social media and camera phones to deal with. Gone are the days you have to work and be a professional sportsperson on the side

Most players were professional by the early 90s. Go back to the 70s and early 80s. Most didn't mind getting onto the sauce after a game, but they had responsibilities week in week out. I recall Cement Gillespie was working mornings as a Garbo when he came off the bench for us in the 85 GF. Pretty sure that is how he lost a finger the following year.
