This just in. TBH, I think he copped a lot of unfair flak. Always being told he was so overrated, that eventually he was still being called that despite nobody actually rating him....

Former representative playmaker Braith Anasta has announced his retirement, calling time on a 15-season NRL career.
The Wests Tigers star is sidelined with a biceps injury, unlikely to return this season, and will enter a full-time career in the media.
Anasta debuted for Canterbury in 2000 and was a part of the side that won the premiership four years later.
He joined the Sydney Roosters in 2006 and spent seven years at the club, with the 2010 grand final the high point of his stint with the tricolours.
The 32-year-old linked up with the Tigers last year but has decided to call time on his career with 288 NRL appearances to his name in addition to four Australian caps.
He also represented NSW on 10 occasions in State of origin and said he felt the time was right to hang up his boots.
"It obviously wasn't a decision that I took lightly but, after numerous discussions with my family, I felt that this is the right time," Anasta said.
"I am extremely grateful to have had the opportunity to play rugby league professionally and I have made a lot of great friends in the game.
"I would like to thank my friends, family, the club and everyone who has supported me throughout my career."
Tigers coach Mick Potter paid tribute to Anasta and credited him with helping in the development of young guns such as Luke Brooks and Curtis Sironen.
"During his two seasons at the Wests Tigers, Braith has been a real asset both on and off the field," Potter said.
"He has played a key role in helping develop younger players within the squad and I know that the young playmakers within the club have taken plenty of advice from him."
THE NRL CAREER OF BRAITH ANASTA:
* Junior Club: Maroubra
* NRL debut: Canterbury v Parramatta, Parramatta Stadium, Rd 18 2000
* Clubs: Bulldogs (2000-05), Sydney Roosters (2006-12), Wests Tigers (2013-14)
* Tests: 4
* NSW: 10
* City Origin: 7
* NRL games: 288
* Tries: 88
* Goals: 122
* Field goals: 18
* Points: 614

Always liked him to be honest. I don't think it was really up to him when he left us... I could've sworn it was between keeping Mason and Anasta, and we chose Mason.

Well done on what you achieved and thanks for being a part of our last premiership win.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but ten years ago, would you have really taken Thurston over Anasta?
I remember not rating Thurston at all when he was at the Bulldogs. I thought he was a skinny, talentless and overall shit player. Man how wrong was I!? To put things into even more perspective, Thurston to me is what we all saw Ben Czislowski as. lol

Should do ok in the media. He can string a few words together, unlike others.

Also what has sent him into retirement? Form or the biceps injury?

Still biased about the Bulldogs even as a commentator. His highlight is the 04 premiership. He bleeds Blue N White.

He is still and always will be a Bulldog to me.
He stopped bleeding blue and white when he signed with our enemy.

Always liked him and he is able to put sentences together and was never a bad looking bloke. Wish him all the best and I reckon he should replace that Greg Alexander **** as a commentator for FOX.

Still love that tattoo he has lol

Everyone loves an emotional Greek, once touted as the next Brad Fittler he never reached such heights but he held his own and deserved plenty of time in first grade and added a bit of class to the sides he played for, all the best.

I've always had a lot of respect for Braith. Champion bloke excluding the whole Sherwin debacle.

My first ever jersey in 2001 had a number 6 on it in recognition of Braith.

I wish him nothing but the best.

Sorry for being ignorant but was this true? I remember reading an article where Anasta said that was one of the best rumours he's heard

It wasn't the first time Anasta had been the victim of the rumour mill. "I hear some good ones," Anasta said.

"Shifty (former Bulldogs half-back Brent Sherwin) broke his hand back when I was at the Dogs, and apparently he broke it punching me in the head.
