Based on what I have seen of him, I hope I don't judge him on NRL games anytime soon

Abbey needs one solid yr in 1st grade to understand something, FB gets bashed and u must balls up.

Is he ready to play in Sundays? Because if the answer is yes, I'd still name him before Hoppa.

I'm not saying he should or shouldn't be picked, but I don't think it's possible to have a worse option at fullback than a guy who won't play on Sundays. Abbey would find his way and still be better for and less disruptive to the team.... unless Hoppa backflips and agrees to play Sundays in which case he's a bit of a back pedaler but at least he won't be a major disruption and hindrance to our team.

I'm not saying he's going to set the world on fire, but he has talent and will develop with confidence ...and a professional footy team having a part time fullback is an absolute joke. Let's be honest. Our fullback situation can't really get any more comical or worse than it is right now.....and I don't care if Hoppa played well today.

Personally would have given him at least a whole trial game, if not both to prove himself.

A 19-20 year old given 20 minutes to crack open a first grade game and leave a mark will probably make some mistakes

Turns 21 this year - the U20s ship has sailed - he has to play with men now

Some players though step up when in first grade cause they wanna prove coach and players they wanna be there and also I could see our team giving him a talk hopefully he can prove us all wrong reminds me of a luke patten style player rather then a barba/Latrell Mitchell type

And for better or worse he was given the shot in first grade, fucked up with some of the same things you're criticizing Abbey for, replaced at fullback a few times - but he was given the go and now he and the Roosters are better for it. The theory with Abbey over at least this season should be sink or swim

I'm just saying the kid is no where near ready for NRK right now, and too much of a liability to risk blooding right now.

And anyone who is picking him right now in their top 17 has rocks in their head

The kid has to improve 10 fold till he is considered top 17
