I reckon he believed his own press, was pretty arrogant, used to getting his own way and thought he’d probably get off. Whilst I’m not convinced he deliberately murdered his girlfriend, I never bought the ‘intruder’ story either - he lived in a highly secure gated community. Regardless he’s gotta live with what he did and free or not his life as he knew it is over.
