Best 17 for round one?

1. Tracey locked in for R1 - dependable but not a permanent option for 26 & beyond
2. Montoya locked in for R1 - dependable & experienced winger with good carries out of 25m zone
3. Xerri locked in for R1 - needs to keep improving on looking for supports but a decent centre
4. Crighton locked in for R1 - Marquee & captain incredible - keep this fucker until he retires
5. Kiraz locked in for R1 - great attitude, consistently good & works hard all game
6. Burton locked in for R1 - A running 5/8 - not a game manager but quality
7. Sexton locked in for R1 - If Woods is the real deal Sexbomb will be exiting dogs - tries hard though
8. King locked in for R1 - Career prop who has never let the club down
9. Mahoney locked in for R1 - Fierce competitor but can crab sideways & fuck our 6 & 7 and also lose his head and concede dumb penalties
10. Hughes locked in for R1 - Big unit that needs to start games & come off based on defensive workload & pace of game
11. Kikau locked in for R1 - Marquee & still such a threat if our halves can use him properly
12. Preston locked in for R1 - This kid has a great engine, runs good lines & tackle busts .... love him
13. Mann locked in for R1 - Great lock & reason why we lost last 2 games of last season because he was injured
14. Haywood locked in for R1 - backup hooker, half & 5/8 - has a football brain and really keep momentum flowing from the bench
15. Curran locked in for R1 - good engine & fills a variety of roles from bench---once again he maintains momentum when he comes on
16. Amone unsure - need a prop on bench and he was bought for the role.
17. Tuponua locked in for R1 - great purchase - good engine, runs good lines, tackle busts & can play prop or 2nd row
Salmon locked in for R1 - Ciraldo's love child

Montoya's definitely hit his ceiling and it's not that flash. He's decent at his occasional very best, but Wilson's just getting started and is at least as good already IMO. I hope he's training the house down and leaving Ciro no choice.

I was down at training this morning. In the final opposed session Montoya was playing left wing in the Top team with Wilson Left wing in the 2nd string team. Things will change over the coming weeks but from todays hitout it looks like Montoya is in front at this stage.

Preston and Hughes before the kids.

Oh, I'm not talking about replacing Preston & Hughes!!

I want a team with Preston, Hughes, Hayes and Todd!!

All 4 of them IN.

Others can decide who misses out - but I would love top see those 4 IN.

Maybe not round 1 ....but as the year progresses - I'm optimistic those 4 will feature in our top rotation.

Eventually ofcourse. Add Mashall and Underhill into that too, but i was talking more about a break out season. Preston we know is good but we want to see him SOO level this year whilst Hughes i think its time to settle and play big boy. These boys got plenty once they mature.

I’d rather a sack of potatoes at No 2.
How are people not remembering the SHIT he served up for us when he was here!!!

Yeah agree Wilson will have to wait for injuries, unless he has bulked up 15kg and gained 2 yards of pace its going to be a long season for the young bloke unfortunately!

This sounds like it's on the money.

To improve this year from last year, we need Tracey, Xerri, Sexton, Hughes and Amone to go up a level.

Have you watched his last 5 seasons at the wahs? Far more dependable than anything else we have & doesn't get rag dolled when carrying out of our end.
Not every game, no, I’ll tell you that honestly.
I have watched a few though (not just vs Bulldogs) and he doesn’t impress me at all.
Look, each to their own, for me though, he a MASSIVE backwards step for a club looking to improve from the shit years the Napas, Elliott’s Lewis’s and Montoya’s gave us.
I’d rather give his place to a young local kid with potential, or Wilson.

Are you fkn serious? lol Wilson is now our fastest player(maybe equal with Xerri)at the club, a lot of our forwards would be as quick as Montoya.
Him needing to put on 15kgs is surely you t.t.p.
I reckon for the extra 20m of yardage per game he may achieve over Wilson that ain't worth the tries he likely can't finish..

EDIT they are listed as being the same weight - 95kgs not 100% if that is spot on or not, last season Montoya averaged 126mpg Wilson 140.

I have watched Montoya in plenty of games with the warriors as well, for every decent game he had, he had twice as many shockers, he is such a bog average winger, the warriors were happy to offload him early. It is mind-bending what a downgrade it is having him in our (likely) starting side.
