Time to fire up the soap box.

I wandered into the bottle-O today, looking for a bottle of muscat, but there was nothing I even vaguely recognized on the fortified shelves. I came across a bottle of Apera, but I didn't buy it because I had never heard of it. When I got home, I looked it up on the net, and it turns out that this is the new name for sherry. The Oz manufacturers have had a "cease and desist" from the Spanish (the article doesn't make clear whether this is Spanish winemakers, government or onions) claiming that they own the name "sherry". Can somebody call around Chateau Philistine and scrape me off the ceiling?

Sherry originally came from Jerez, in Spain. The Poms couldn't spell or pronounce "Jerez" and it became "sherry". "Sherry" is an English word, coined by the English, and used only by the English and English speakers. I am gobsmacked that a bunch of foreigners would have the rhinoceros hide to claim ownership of it, and even more gobsmacked that Oz winemakers would simply roll over, instead of just telling them to fuck off (politely, of course)..

actually looking at the site our gear is generally looking good across the board. The training gear, jerseys, shirts, all look good. My 2025 members cap is nice too.

Been a while since I posted. I think this is the first beer I've ever had from the Illawarra region...

I have recently started drinking better beer, My sugar was very very high, back in December, so my Doc said ok, your 90KG, lose 15KG in 3 months and we will do another blood test, so once a week, i have a couple of better beers, they taste great considering they are low carb (Currently 84KG's btw :grinning:)

PSA - Zytho have discontinued their Hemp IPA. I've always quite enjoyed it, so i've been scouring my local BWSes and picking them up for $10 a 4 pack.

I think it recently one a big award. Its a good beer and sits as one of my default options if nothing else catches my eye at the bottlo.
Said something on the box about winning best beer. Didn't really pay attention

Found one of my favs in Dan's. Haven't seen these for a long time. I think they've been renovating their brewery over the last year or so.
