I don't think Averillo has been told he is not in the future plans, I think he has been told that it is up to him to justify an updated offer and that any offer based on what he did last year would not be anywhere near what he could get if he starts delivering to his potential. and that it would only be fair if they revisited on what a fair offer is after he has a full pre season at FB and shows what he can do.

If he wants to sign a contract with another club before next year it shows that he does not believe he can deliver to his potential.

Having listened to a fair few of Gus’s podcasts this year he has repeatedly said that the fullback is extremely important to a teams attack. With that in mind Jake will need to improve a fair bit for us not to go to the open market for 2024.

It doesn’t mean he won’t get another deal. He does provide good utility value.

Based on his form last year would he be first choice fullback at any other club ?

Maybe the dragons but that’s about it

Yeah, he probably deserves to start the season there but if he has a couple of shockers or if opposition expose his weaknesses, he may be done cause he aint going to get another crack in the halves or centres
Agree, he should be given a chance to settle into the position, with Ciraldo, other signings and a full pre-season..
But 'testing the market' might be poor advice for a player who has not shown a lot. Except he will never make it in the halves.
He might be better off just signing whatever has been put in front of him and putting his head down.
We've already got a couple of new fullback signings, only a couple of years younger then Averillo....
The club could very easily withdraw it's offer. If there is one....

Think he will shape up to be a decent fullback personally I would keep him unless we intend on buying a proven fullback.

The obvious point regarding inconsistency and looking uncomfortable at times is because he was chucked in the deep end with no experience but there was glimpses where he showed some qualities.

Keep him for 2023, give him an off season let’s see what Ciraldo can do

Jury still out on avo. His speed and athletic ability suited to a team that has a dominant forward pack and halves that create space.

Also a decent coach to teach him structures and positioning in attack and defence wouldn’t go astray. Was not suited to Baz ball. Would probably be a star at the storm lol.
He’s the type of player the Storm would be interested in for sure.

Come on this is ridiculous what is he going to test, he has the chance to make the FB spot his own.

Some of these managers are duds, especially Suaalis manager

He not 30 yet, whatever he lacks at fullback he can learn, he has adapted to every other position.
100 percent he has the athleticism for FB, he needs the fitness (to involve himself more often) and will need to become safer under the highball.

He needs more reps and training, it will be a huge boost if he can nail down FB. That means we can focus on a halfback.

2 years from now some people will still live in hope for Avo. I say this because in 2 years he’ll still be not up to first in any capacity. Any talk of JAC to fullback needs to seriously stop. He’s a winger through and through and a marquee one at that.

Id like to see JAC having a crack at fullback he may be a better fullback than winger?

No his worst attribute is coming out of our own 20 meters.
We need field position and setting up for the rest of the 5 tackles you need strong yardage to take pressure off of the forwards.

Addo Carr NEEDS to be fullback in first trial. Look at how star studded Samoa were in the forwards and outside backs but still got pumped by England due to their piss weak spine. We need our best players in key positions. Mahoney/ Burton/JAC

Not on your life is there a chance he’s a better fullback. His transition will be underwhelming just like Bmoz’s you’ll find and he’d probably be on the injury list within a few weeks. Hopefully the club has learned from recent previous experiments and how they worked out. Eg. Cotric - wing to centre, Avo - 5/8 to half to centre and now to fullback[emoji90].

No!
It absolutely Aston's me how people think a good winger will make a good fullback.
Do you even rugby league!
