Not sure I like the format anyway, but interesting to see the Sharks resurgent.

With Bulldogs coloured glasses off, and only mentioning them when absolute deserved...

Having watched every single game this weekend, I bring you my...

Nines Wrap Up

Most Tries:
Souths

Least Tries:
Bulldogs

Player of the Series:
As much as it pains to to say it Adam Reynolds (Souths) and Chris Sandow (Eels) tie.

Adam Reynolds kicking was superbly accurate and caused all sorts of bother for opposing teams.
Chris Sandow was all over the place, leading the Eels to numerous tries.

Try of the series:
Eto Nabuli's (Dragons) inch perfect aerobatic display on Saturday to score in the corner. Highlights reel material.

Most suprising player:
Jake Mamo from Knights and Kata from Warriors. Both have massive futures if they stay injury free.

One to watch (in for a big season):
Valentine Holmes. He is going to be a superstar if he has quality players around him to improve his game.

Lolohea from Warriors earns an honorable mention here too. Real skillful player and reminds me of a young Stacey Jones.

Biggest Disappointment (Player):
Anthony Milford. Given all the hype he should have carved up in this tournament.
Mata'utia brothers get a slight mention here too. Good but not as devestating as they could be.

Most impressive side:
For me the Sharks were the biggest suprise here. Played some quality football and only beaten in their final game.

Most disappointing side:
Bulldogs (without a doubt).

Fastest player of the series:
Josh Jay from Panthers on paper (100m sprint in 10.4 seconds)
Kata from Warriors absolutely motors when he gets in space.
Shout out to Damien Cook from the Bulldogs here. Suprisingly nimble on his feet.

Don't particularly like the nines concept. Even though the games were shorter with less players on the field still some crappy decisions by the refs but at least for the most part the commentators gave them heaps about it. Once again the darlings of the league were in the middle of another massive wankfest and that crappy old Glory Glory song played to death. A lot of poor decisions went with them which helped them deluxe on their way through the preliminary games. Looked like a poor crowd on day two but the NRL would still have raked in the dough or they wouldn't bother with the concept. Positive aspect is that we seemingly had no injuries where as the eels copped a few.

Souths came to win they had a game plan all based on kicking game this will be future of nines soon early kicks etc, they played a boring possession game with repeat sets and all were on board..must be like being in the military playing for that bunch

Milf was completely missing in action.

Starting to wonder if he'll be Barba 2.0 for the Broncos (all hype, no action).

he is absolutely going to be barba, thats because he is exactly the same type of player

if face/off happened to them and they switched bodies, nobody would suspect a thing

Milford really did nothing didn't he?

Jack Bird will be a star.
Nabuli will start on the wing round 1.
The Knights MUST go with youth in their backline.
Kata should replace Hurrell until he returns from injury.
Reynolds killed it.
Warriors were disappointing.
Big expectations on young forwards faltered.
Nu Brown has done his ACL.
George Burgess scored more tries than our entire side lol.

You could easily pick them out.

Milford would be all around the field. Barba would be closely hugging the lines! *boom tish*

Hasler missing
NRL heavyweights are filthy with Bulldogs coach Des Hasler in the wake of the Nines in Auckland last weekend.

Hasler was the one NRL head coach who refused to attend the highly successful pre-season event.

And his absence was noted by the people that count in the NRL, who saw it as a slap in the face to a tournament that has proved a runaway success for the second straight year.

Ironically, Hasler sent a relatively strong Bulldogs team to the event - with more big names than most teams.

But the Bulldogs played well below par, no doubt partly because they didn’t have that incentive to go out there and rip and tear for their main man.
Thats from the Sportal Lurker so .. grain of salt as always.

Mate Souths will win everything this year.

NRL darlings will get piggybacked to back to back premierships and win the title of winning every charity shield / cup game / World Cup Challenge / etc along the way.
