i think we are a good chance of finishing top 4, if not close to it.
i think it will be a little bit easier for us due to other teams struggling a little bit through origin period. (cronulla, manly, dragons, parra lol)

If we lose Morris, Ennis and Barba we might find it pretty tough ourselves

I think its too early to tell from just after Round 9. I think we need to back ourselves with further good performances. Having said that I will be disappointed if we finish anywhere below 6th. I think Melbourne,Brisbane and Manly will grab the top 3 positions. Whilst Dogs,Bunnies,Cowboys and Sharks will be heavily competing for 4th.

Just to add, Dragons are over-rated, lucky to win last week and demolished this week. Having said that, if they make the 8 it won't last long for them.

Same as AFL style

1 v 4
2 v 3
winners go prelim
losers have home semi week 2

5 v 8
6 v 7
losers eliminated
winners play losers from group above

then usual losers out and winners to prelim

lol sorry if this is the worse

its the AFL system

week 1
1 vs 4 (winner to preliminary)
2 vs 3 (winner to preliminary)
5 vs 8 (loser out)
6 vs 7 (loser out)

week 2
(Match 2A)loser 1v4 vs winner 5v8
(Match 2B)loser 2v3 vs winner 6v7

preliminary final

winner of 1v4 vs winner of Match 2B
winner of 2v3 vs winner of Match 2A

the differences are that you know that you are going to be eliminated from week 1 if you lose instead of looking for other results, it means that the top 4 is the place to be instead of the top 2

The main difference this year is that if you finish top 4 you can no longer get knocked out in the first week. There is now a definate incentive to finish top 4.

I thought that was the case before.. or was that only for one and two?

the old system was the 2 lowest ranked losers are eliminated, so lets say team 3 lost against team 6 then they would need either team 1 or 2 to win their matches but theoretically they would have been eliminated if 1 and 2 also lost

im sure the team finishing 4th has been eliminated in that old system

Is it then possible to play the same team in week 1 as the preliminary final?
