Incredibly, www.smh.com.au is behind a paywall, but m.smh.com.au isn't.

If you don't mind the scappier layout of the mobile site on your computer, then the Herald is still free. I can't believe this will last too long, but it's fine for now.

As I use yahoo for my webmail, i've started using it for general news since smh is now behind a paywall (afterr 30 articles), and a lot of news ltd articles require you to register.

The Guardian and ABC are also good (if somewhat lefty).

I'm also annoyed youporn only gives you 5 free vids a day on your mobile.
