Any particular reason we signed 2 x players from 5 clubs ?

Seems a bit of a coincidence. I know TPJ played a few games for the Panthers but we signed him from the Broncos

Did we feel the new players all need someone familiar ? Did one player talk a mate into joining us ?

TPJ + Asiata - Broncos
Dufty + Vaughan - Dragons
Burton + Naden - Panthers
Cook + Burns - Souths
JAC + King -Storm

I probably wouldn't read too much into it. There could be a specific reason behind it. But Penrith and Brisbane supposedly were feeling some salary cap pinch thus Naden, TPJ and Asiata were available. Not sure if cap pressure was an issue with the Dragons. But Vaughan's issues with the COVID breach BBQ saga meant he was a bargain buy and Dufty probably provides some playmaking options to relieve pressure on our young halves.

Interestingly, Waddell, Hetherington, Naden, Burton, Bradion Burns and Asiata (who’s from Penrith) are one way or another connected lol

Who cares, coincidence or not, we’ve bought well an signed the appropriate people for the right positions, and the rest is history.!! Now we can sit back and enjoy some decent attack an real footy players next year.

The Rorters do not lose a player they want to keep.
Once upon a time...We used to be like that :frowning:
Myth

Exhibit A = RTS
Exhibit B = Silva (thank you Chooks for the one and only Rocket)
Exhibit C = Hannant (we should always be grateful that the stupid Chooks cut Ben in 2005 after 8 games)
Exhibit D = SPerrett (another, thank you Chooks)
Exhibit E = Dunn, (thank you Chooks, a vital ingredient for our 1988 Premiership)
Exhibit F = Maloney (handing the Sharks the missing ingredient for their first ever Premiership)
Others = The Sorenson Bros, Faamausili, Takairangi, Tetevano etc etc

Always a Bulldog

it's an interesting observation - but when you are going to be replacing half your squad, there's going to be some double ups.

What a memory!
A year or two before that they signed guys like Mick Pitman and Jim Leis - realised they needed more grunt n size at the end of 83 - some good decisions made.

RTS simply used the excuse, home sick.
Out of the list the only player they were forced to lose was Dunn, Bullfog's payback time for signing Brian Battese !

You could argue that the Panthers, Storm and Souths signings were made due to us wanting to sign players from a winning culture but then that argument goes straight out the window when you include the Dragons and Broncos players......so IMO it was just a coincidence

I think Burton would have had an influence on Naden choosing us over the Tigers, since they're close mates, but for the other players it was just a coincidence. In saying that I do think it helps us so I do think it is a good thing.

We should interrogate Burton, fox and burns and steal there training methods and tactics.
